The Help wins for a third weekend in a row. Next week will be interesting with Contagion and Warrior and if both of those don't open over 20, something's wrong.

Based on the current reviews that are coming in, it looks like Shark Night 3D ain't the Piranha 3D of 2011 I was hoping for. I knew it would suck after seeing it had a PG-13 rating. Apollo 18 isn't doing so well either. Guess it is just The Debt this week (which came out Wednesday, where the hell was I?). Oh well, The Help will probably take it easily.

Anyone seen The Guard?

I really have to see "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes." They will be playing it at the theater I like to go to all week so I need to see this one.

Can't wait to get APES on BD, hope it has
[Show spoiler](I'm SURE it will)
tons of extras, maybe a nice 2-disc edition.

THE HELP - Not saying it's a bad movie, it's prob very good, but it's on top for 3 weeks in a row, & not doing HUGE numbers, in the grand scheme of Blockbuster $$$$$. It's been #1 with what, the low 20's, then mid-high teens'? To me, that's also indicative of some lame films at the theaters (Conan, 30 Mins or Less, etc.) in the last month.

That would be nice
...but I'm expecting a single BD + DVD combo pack.
I already have it pre-ordered as it was in my Gold Box the other day

The Help's numbers definitely aren't anything comparable to the huge movies like Transformers...but for a "normal" movie, it is doing great business...and it's already made more than Green Lantern
Most everything else out in the last few weeks are barely even worth writing about from a box office standpoint

Speaking of HUGE Movies, have you seen the pics from NYC's Central Park in the AVENGERS thread? Nice stuff. Scar Jo's looking particularly Sexy/Curvy from ALL the right angles...

But I digress. As long as they make APES a 50gb disc we should have plenty of room for tons of extras/behind the scenes/make-up material.

I'll wait to see THE HELP on TV when it comes out, as I have no interest in paying to see it I'm sure it's a great story, great acting, etc.

On a related note Blu-ray sales will really start to pick up after this week. The Summer box office big boys will start releasing in September with X-Men: First Class "first" as it releases next Tuesday.

Friday. I think I'll get the Target exclusive if I can find someone to PM for $20, or less.

Times are tight, and that's the kind of summer it's been... a harsh one for bloated and crappy movies (even top-billed blockbusters like Green Lantern). I hope the Hollywood execs are paying attention.

It was the biggest Summer ever (box office), sure some duds were released, but that always happens. Top 12 for 2011 (all Summer movies).*Rise of the Planet of the Apes has plenty of "legs" remaining to make it to the top 10.

I really didn't see the point of re-releasing Cars 2 and Bad Teacher in theaters this weekend. What were they expecting, everyone to rush out so Cars will make another 12 million and hit 200 mil and Bad Teacher to make another 1.5 mil and reach 100 mil. The push failed.
