I just pre-ordered from Amazon as well, I'll have enough to keep me busy on Blu-ray that I'm not feigning to see it right now. Besides, I'm not anxious to give Best Buy another penny.

Thought I read that many had got it from BB at $9.99?

What happened (I'm guessing) is this - The sticker price of The Others is $14.99 normally at Best Buy, but since it's their exclusive starting today, it was advertised in this weeks ad for $9.99. Early purchasers should be able to go to Best Buy and get the difference back.

Amazon is pretty much going to be getting my business exclusively

Well, it depends how you see it. You can get your item after 15 min at BB. But you can only get your item after 1-2 days at Amazon.

Since it's only 10 bucks at Best Buy, I was tempted to just go pick it up there, but really, I'm getting Scarface and Troll Hunter in the mail today. I have Halloween II coming next week, and then of course later on in the week, the Star Wars Complete Saga. My hands will be more than full, since I don't the same leisure time I used to (kid now and all). To get The Others on the 20th instead of today is no big loss for me, and since I can wait, I'm more than happy to give someone other than BB my money.

Suspense isn't really a genre as much as it is an emotion and a way of structuring information in a story. You can find suspense in many films and most genres. That does not mean they are 'suspense movies'.

The Others didn't have any of those grotesque murder psychopaths, that were portrayed in The Exorcist, Rosemary's
Baby, and Psycho. I've never heard, nor seen The Innocents.
How does the 'horror genre classifications' differ now from 40 years ago, please enlighten me? And who makes these 'horror genre classifications'?

While I would agree that the horror genre gets more and more graphical explicit in the use of special effects as the years go by, the genre is as diverse now as it ever was. The 'grotesgue murder psychopaths' are only a part of the entire genre output and there is a steady flow of movies that rely more on atmosphere than on graphical murders. In fact, looking at the kind of box-office a movie like 'Paranormal Activity' did, it seems there's a huge interest in these kind of horror movies. Or do you also claim that 'Paranormal Activity' is not a horror film?

I know... the 'horror' films of ole' just wouldn't cut the silly classification of what gets called horror nowadays. I really hate all the classifications that exist for certain genres like horror. It's even worse in music. Heavy metal just isn't heavy metal anymore, for example. Now a band comes along and you say, "Man, these guys are awesome. Some of the best heavy metal I've heard in a while." Moments later, some ego-inflacted metal-nerd comes along and corrects you, "It's Norwegian Black-Goth Death Metal, STUPID." Well gee, pardon me. Metal is metal, leave it be, know what I mean?

The Others is one of the scarier flicks to come along in the last decade, and if that doesn't qualify as 'horror', then I don't know what does.

Anyone know what going on with the Best Buy early release. I went to my BB and they had none out even though 10 on hand.

I then decided to do a store-pickup at the 2nd closest BB and get an e-mail telling me don't come before 2 days ago.

Simple. The idiots at your local Best Buy probably have them still sitting in the back room, or a cart on the floor.

Yet another reason why I decided to give Amazon my money and wait for this title until the 20th. They slack a LOT when it comes to putting out releases on time. And this happens at stores all over, so the way they do their business as far as putting stuff out in a timely manner overall has to be poor.
