Well, I didn't know the original trilogy set didn't have the extra's on them. That sucks, I thought I had read that the extra's would be in the set (probably read it on this forum in the US thread). My DVD's of the original trilogy also don't have any extra's (bought a re-release of them, not when they were first released)

That sucks :/ T complete saga looks reeeeealy nice in person I must admit. And the 3 discs of extras are worth getting in my eyes.

I think I got the first release of the OT on DVD all those years ago from the exact same HMV as I got the Blu-rays today I spent less on these than the OT set

But there are extras on the old silver trilogy set that arent on the BD set. Stupid really.

I think it's been mentioned by those who got the set early. But Jar Jar really sticks out in TPM. I mean, the CG is really noticable.

6/10 for extras? WTF is that guy smoking? A couple of badly stitched together 10 year old commentaries and it get's 6/10? Shame on him when you compare some of the great Blu-ray releases this year.

Special features = 0/10

These are some of the greatest and most enjoyable films ever made and we don't even get a ****ing trailer. Yes, I know people may have stuff on old releases but Blu-ray is new and we know Geroge likes things to be new, newer and newest -maybe that's why he doesn't want us delving too far into the past of the films. Maybe he thinks we're all idiots with short attention spans and actually think these films are only a few years old. You, know like a 'saga' and all CGI'd to the hilt.

Credit were credit due The Lord of the Rings EE boxset had all the stuff from the other releases if nothing new. No-one could say it was missing this or missing that. It's all there on 15 discs of Blu-rays and DVD's (21 if you add the theatrical versions).

This set seems completely incomplete, I would have thought there would have been a load of new HD trailers from year dot but Lucasfilm want us to stock pile all our stuff in our custom made Star Wars media room, even though it will eventually snap, rot or get scratched into oblivion if we risk watching them.

Even the bloody films aren't finished: that would have been first on my to-do list....

He's been sticking out for 12 years, that's one thing George Lucas can't change.

Thats true. He just seems like he's not even in the same frame anymore. It's really hard to explain. But it's worse than what I remember it looking on VHS and DVD.

It's my perception that CGI does tend to separate out of the image far more on Blu than on DVD. Is it differences in pixel density? grain? texture? I can't be sure, but on a lot of Blus I have where CGI is matted into live action, the CGI tends to look like it's floating on top of the image, rather than sitting in the same focal plane - much more than it ever did in SD resolution.

I haven't seen this release yet, but it really doesn't surprise me that SW suffers the same fate, to some degree. It may well be inherent in the technology.

Got them today from Tesco. Trying to hold off watching them until the weekend when a couple of the guys come over to join me. Anyone else love that picture inside the booklet of Boba Fett riding Obi-Wan's lizard from Revenge of the Sith? Also I presume everyone else is taking the little back flap and top off of their set?

He looks pretty good texture wise. I think the trouble is like you say, it's like hes floating out of the frame. And the lighting on his skin doesn't quite match his surroundings at times. But I guess thats more to do with the creation of him rather than the transfer.

Lighting is one of the biggest things you need to get right to make a CG charecter look like its in the scene.

As for the flap hat I'm keeping it

I always keep those spec sheets they attatch to Steelbooks and box sets etc. I don't know why though lol.

The minute I seen that abomination of a character I knew the 'new' remake trilogy was doomed.

When watching (upto now) the SEs on DVD I've essentially turned ROTJ off 5mins or so from the end so I don't have to experience the horrible CGI explosion of people cheering around the universe at the Empire's demise. For the Blu-ray I decided to watch ROTJ to the bitter end. My oh my there's 100s of Jar-Jars in miniature in all those cities!

I'll go back to turning off the film early. It really ends at Darth's funeral pyre (I ended it there myself previously when I recut it to de-Ewok it as much as possible and to remove the 'new' Anakin).

Still, none of these negatives will avoid me using the Blu-rays as my default SW fix. They look and sound great and by the end of ROTJ (I always watch the trilogy in one sitting) I have to get up anyway. Nothing lost

I wondered what that was about too, I like most of the art in the booklet but that last one really stuck out, WTF?

Anyone know anything about it?

watching TPM now, The DnR is quite apparent and i dont normally notice/ moan about these things. That aside, it looks very good overall, although as has been mentioned, it can be less than kind on some of the CG, particularly the creatures/ characters. The space stuff and droids look amazing.

Agreed.

Theres still a lot of detail in the picture but there's an over all "smooth" feel to everything.
