Oh wait, the Star Wars BDs come out in a few days...no we're not. I like how this person talks about the demise of BD when it's not even the dominant form of home media...and after this year, it's actually kicking into gear! Oh well, color me an optimist, but I'll be looking forward to blu-ray for several years to come...at least! |

You should check out the ‘Transformers’ *thread*, as one could use it as in-house training to study Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder with the pages and pages and pages of repeated speculation by the same individual. That behavior is driving this poor soul to take his own life – https://forum.blu-ray.com/5192361-post1485.html |

Speaking of dysfunctional behavior, I guess I should give a little lip-service to a catalog title which doesn’t have any robots, aliens, or the word Star anywhere in its title before it rapidly disappears into home theater forum obscurity, if even a thread for it exists on this forum, in the first place.
I speak of The Caine Mutiny and https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-C...Blu-ray/23455/ and obviously Captain Queeg. ![]() Anyway, are there any old Navy dogs out there? Question is…… can a vintage U.S. Navy destroyer minesweeper as depicted in the movie (and also, actually in the novel, for that matter) [Show spoiler] Or, was that a case of dramatic license? Regardless, I’ll try to post an interesting follow-up production tidbit to that sequence after a few folks have had time to watch the flick if they’re not already familiar with the particular scene of which I speak. |

mid fest, no time to think, but thought you'd be amused I saw the new Ron Fricke SAMSARA - shot on Panavision 65mm, scanned 8k, and projected at 4k at TIFF.

If this insightful trend continues perhaps some PR damage control may be in order. Meanwhile, I hope those two reviewers don’t e-mail the BFI London Film Festival with their opinions, as it could hurt ticket sales…. http://www.bfi.org.uk/lff/node/1645 P.S. What's "POS" stand for? ![]() |

We all know that God almighty himself can not compare to 70mm film projection.
Despite how it looks, at the very least, this will give unhappy *film purists* a chance to sadly reminisce about the Glory Days of old….as more and more Muliplexes throughout the world go digital. |

Besides, it would be like the Miramax deals with Lionsgate and Echo Bridge, you can only work with what you are given. (At least, Lionsgate has people in place that understand films, so they can raise a flag if the film is the wrong aspect ratio...) fitprod |

Concerning a prior FotoKem project, namely THE SOUND OF MUSIC…. “…in restoring and preserving films shot in 65mm climaxed by a split screen demonstration comparing a new 70mm print off the original negative of Reel 2A of "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" with their DCP version from an 8K scan of the negative projected using the latest Sony 4K digital projector. Allowing for difficulties in lining up and sizing the images from the two projectors involved and matching the color timing, I have to admit that the results struck me as being equal. That is, with this setup using the ultimate in state-of-the-art equipment. Nothing else about this presentation struck me positively or negatively…” http://www.in70mm.com/news/2010/reel/index.htm |

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7318 covers the 2D -> 3D conversion of Top Gun in quoting The Hollywood Reporter, there appears to be no mention of the fact that 18 min. of the 2D -> 3D conversion of Titanic was also shown to audiences at IBC in Amsterdam. I’ve heard from colleagues who viewed the 18 min. Titanic preview and whose judgment I trust (one having taught Master Classes in both traditional (2D) as well as 3D cinematography) that the presented material looked very good. I think this bodes well for the entire film. So, for those single guys out there and those married men who still take their wives out on a ‘Date Night’ ![]() |

but most people are not the same way, that is the issue. Look at DEGs report for last quarter, look at Netflix's Q2 report and their q3 will be even more interesting since in Sept they split the plans (i.e. before a person that rented DVD/BDs was automatically able to stream, now they have to pay for it)
