Watched TPM last night, quite enjoyed it actually! The picture was a bit ropey in places, but overall it looked fantastic. Sounded amazing, the 'pop' from some of the CGI was indeed present, but not at all distracting. I'd say it was the most I've ever enjoyed it, still some crap going on though! I don't understand how GL can change things in the OT that are already fine, yet not at least cut out the fart gags and general silliness on display in some parts of this film.

I don't wanna be at all negative about this set, a lot of work has gone into it, albeit somewhat misguided in places, but to have SW on BD seems like a proper treat right now!

What I dont get is that some people complain about the humour in the Prequels as if the originals are some sort of "played straight down the middle" action film. Last night when watching A New Hope for the first time in about a decade I was surprised by how much humour there is in that first film and by how much I laughed.

Thing is with the prequels, the humour is either infantile or or just downright cheesy, it would have been better to just play it straight throughout, and skip poor attempts such as flatulent beasts and dead quips from Obi Wan. The originals had an edge, they didn't seem to take it all so seriously, the humour was dry and self aware. Anyway, it's all good fun in the end. 30 odd years later, and I'm still in love with the Wars. GL really lets it all down sometimes, and he really needs to get a grip on what is going on in the world of the people that made him successful..... I'm digressing, I'll stop!

Completely agree. Humour is really valuable, even in dire dramas, if it's done right. But there's a big difference between sardonic quips during firefights, and cartoonish characters doing pratfalls and music hall schtick.

What R2-D2 falling over in A New Hope isn't a Pratfall?

God damn Royal Mail. They said they couldn't deliver my set at 7.15 this morning because it wouldn't fit through my letter box, but they didn't even ring the doorbell. I tried the sorting office and they don't have it yet. I'm really annoyed about this...

Not having a lot of luck are you with this. So near, yet so far. Still, it'll be worth the wait.

I feel your pain....

picked this up on Monday in a mad dash before work.. watch TPM & AOTC must say I didn’t really enjoy TPM much I remember quite enjoying it when I first watched it I must have been 13/14years old at the time though, just forgot how bad jar jar actually is didn’t remember him being that annoying and eyes popping out of his head stupid voice ect just cheapens the film, enjoyed the darth maul parts though TPM's only saving grace imo...

AOTC wasn’t that much better either feel bad for over criticising it but the first hour and a half just fumbles along and is really wasteful last hour is good and yoda fight etc they should have spent more time at war imo the film title does suggest it would be the case..... but the whole angry lusting Anakin act was painful to watch and the awkward ‘’falling in love’’ scenes are really badly executed ...

just glad I’ve got the worst 2 out the way and i looking forward to watching ROTS as i have never seen it..!!! i know, don’t know how that’s happened but ive been told it’s the best of the prequels so that’s good to know.

One thing i must say though irrespective of the films story’s etc the sound quality is AMAZING.... serous reference stuff.... can’t wait to watch the rest now...!!

My copy made it to Germany in pristine condition (dispatched on Saturday via DHL, arrived on Tuesday). It was a standard Amazon cardboard box, which also didn't show any signs of damage.

The only difference that I'm aware of is the packaging (UK has a Digistack instead of a cardboard book) and the labels on the actual discs (UK has artworks on the discs, the US doesn't). The UK version is uncut, as confirmed by the bbfc and by my own eyes. Jangos headbutt in Episode II is present.

Originally when the films were released in the cinema, the BBFC forced them to cut a scene in Attack of The Clones where Obi Wan gets headbutted by Jango Fett. But in this release it has been put back in, so as far as the films go, they should be identical in the UK and US blu-ray releases.
