Default A Problem with Best Buy?

I am coming off of a long run as a Best Buy employee so can comfortably talk about this subject. Over the past couple months, I have felt wronged by Best Buy in particular, Bestbuy.com. I order, well in advance, all my preorders and they have delayed almost every one. Specifically, Madden 12, NCAA 12, Dead Island, Elder Scrolls Oblivion Game of the Year and movie wise, Thor and Halloween 2 that just came out yesterday. Why with all the money and resources they have, do I feel wronged? It's just really upsetting that for all the money I spend, I have to wait and wait. I have Star Wars ordered through them and I will probably cry (or yell) if I don't get Star Wars in a decent time.

Has anyone else experienced this lately?

Their time is up. (This coming from a current employee)

They just have no game in the market anymore.

Amazon.com does everything (online-wise) better than them..

Their website alone is a big clunky mess.

Oh, I get annoyed when I buy from them. I'll do site to store and then I'll get the email confirmation that they have it and it's ready to pick up. And in this one particular case, I present the order number and I.D. and Credit Card and their response; "Oh...did you happen to see it on the shelf, sir?" And I was like; "No. I ordered it off the website and it said you had it ready for me." And the girl leaves the pick up area and walks back to the Blu-ray section and then brings a copy up. I was pissed. And I called and complained about that.

I agree 100% completely about that. You can get 2 day shipping if you're on amazon prime, and for the fee you pay I think it pays it self well off. For the amount of orders i've placed this year alone through Amazon I would have spent way more on shipping.
I want to pre-order the fast five steelbook from them but from what i've been hearing about their shipping times I rather just take my chances and hope I can get one at the store.

I think you had all the right to complain about that. This is a service that they offer that they can't even seem to get right makes me want to just order it online from Amazon and get it delivered to my door. The only down side I see to Amazon is if you order steelbooks but in all honesty i've seen a few reports of Best Buy stores even having damaged steelbooks and either way Amazon's exchange policy is simple and quick.

I avoid Best Buy like the plague. I hate that store and refuse to shop there. I stick with Amazon and couldn't be happier.

Not going to lie, the second I posted this, as angry as I was, I assumed people would think I was a troll or just trying to drag Best Buy through the mud. I recently quit a week ago from there and have some bad stories but being treated like this online, is no excuse. Online is the market that will ensure Best Buy stays afloat. They obviously know that by adapting the Deal of the Day (although it's mostly refurbished).

I owed Amazon some seller fees or something that bounced when I switched my bank account and they kept closing all new accounts I made. I would love nothing more than get back with Amazon. Although I'm a paying Barnes and Noble customer and some of my recent purchases have been through there...I get free 1-3 day shipping. I need Amazon again

Like, I recently created a Amazon cloud MP3 player and bought 100 dollars worth of music and I had the account for a day, woke up and it was closed. Luckily they refunded me but it upset me because cloud music is something I love.

Yes the cloud music is fascinating loads so fast and so consistent. I also use the Amazon cloud have you tried contact the customer support and see if there is anything that can be done to alleviate the issue?

I can relate to that. It happens to me everytime. And twice, they didn't even have the item in the store even though the email said it was ready. I had to wait an additional 2/3 weeks for them to order it.
Best Buy real name should be Worst Buy.

Yeah, the woman thought that I was looking around for, I think it was, Inglourious Basterds. And this was on the release date back December two years ago. And my jaw like dropped when she came up and was like; "OK! That'll be $19.20." I could have done that myself instead of ordering it site to store.

To be fair...

I used to order (when I had a PC instead of my Mac) Norton Utilities direct from Norton... as a pre-order upgrade every year... but they started delaying pre-orders. They explained that they wanted to ship to stores first... and if they ran out, they shipped pre-orders later.

That ticked me off and I stopped ordering from them and went back to buying in stores because I could get it quicker. I had argued that pre-orders should be shipped from the initial batch and at the same time they shipped to stores... I didn't think I was owed it early, but certainly not late.

I've had other experiences like that with direct sales from companies... Warner has done this at WBShop too.

So I'm not surprised Best Buy would make the same call... have it in stores first, then deal with pre-orders later.

I agree it is counter to the concept of a pre-order... and since pre-orders should be guaranteed money, I wish they would reverse that way of thinking.

Funny story about Inglourious Basterds. The day it came out, it was 5 dollars cheaper on Bestbuy.com. The clerk had to get the manager. They kept misspelling the name so said that it's not even sold on their website. So, I had to pay 5 dollars more for the same movie. I now go out of my way to load on my phone everything I'm buying from Best Buy so if they give me problems, I can be like "bam". Worst Buy for sure!

Yeah, $17.99 was the price. It was like $22.99 in store or some crap like that. I remember all those movies that were coming out around Christmas '09 were cheaper to do site to store on. It was odd.

So another horror story. I preordered Star Wars online the other day from Best Buy because my wife wanted the t shirt. They put a pre authorization on my credit card for the full amount of the order. Then today when they tried shipping Star Wars, they tried charging again and it was declined because I don't have 160 in my account right now (just went on a blu binge). The lady I called on the phone just had horrible sentence grammar and gave me a headache with how stupid she was. Of course, it's Star Wars, so I cancelled my order and will be going to pick it up in stores tomorrow. Yes, I'm going to Best Buy to pick it up. Grrrrr.

Not to pile on you... but this is your horror story, and not Best Buy.

I was with you on the earlier stuff... but if you pre-order something, and then when it is time to ship you have the burden of making sure your choice of payment is still valid.

That's because they don't fix ipods...they deal directly with computers and ship off most other things if you have a protection plan. That's why they sell the plan. Yea, it's pure revenue, but it protects people and their electronics.

Lots of customers come in and shrug off the protection (I always did as a customer), and when their junk breaks, they blame Best Buy and assume we fix everything.

We only sell products. Other manufacturers, like Apple, Sony, Bose, Sharp, Samsung, etc. actually make the products and offer their own customer service for items outside of the Best Buy "return" period, which is all you get to do through BB without an extended warranty.

Not Best Buy's fault!

Um, from what I read, BB tried to double charge him, but I could be reading it wrong:

The pre-authorization is not a real charge... it is just to check to see if the card is valid and it goes away IF it doesn't become a real charge in a week or so.
