Over the last several years the average time to DVD has gone down.

I sure as hell wouldn't see anything in theaters if I could get it on disc in a month or less. Hell, I'd probably be more likely to just pick movies up at that point... going to the theater is not a cheaper proposition most of the time as it is -- ~$8-9 x2, 5-10 for some sort of drink/snacks for me and my GF.... that right there covers a blind buy and hitting up the gas station for a snack or two.

Many people don't go to the movies alone, so going to the movies is a $20-50+ dollar trip (more depending on if you're bringing a family).

I'd love it if it happened, as I prefer watching movies at home to theaters anyways. I have a feeling this is a case of misunderstanding... no major studio would think of doing this in the way stated.
