sooo..I just got a Sony Ericsson Satio..
and I didn't do my research..as far as I knew it was quad band as far as GSM goes, so I knew I could use it anywhere in the world.. but as for UMTS/3G..stupid AT&T here in the US is not compatible..grrr ![]() *sigh.. oh well, I can still use the phone's GPS with edge..and my main reason for getting the Satio over the iPhone was the camera.. I just wish the cellular networks here in the US would get up with the times and have true 3G video calling already |

What do you mean? I thought phones with apps to do that can do that? Someone made Facetime work over 3G with a jailbroken iPhone4, and I believe it was in the US.

I don't get this obsession with video calling from a mobile. I mean we had it here ages ago and it has been very unpopular. It used to be touted as a feature when selling phones, but eventually they gave up when people realised how pointless it is.

The UK as far as I know was the 1st to have this, The Philippines also has it. haha, I know..It's not a feature that I would probably use all the time..but its just a nifty feature I'd like to have for those rare moments when a video call would be convenient |

Even though we've had it available for years on many unlocked smartphones phones through Skype, etc, the lack of carrier support for video calling in the US gave an opening for Apple marketing to do their infamous thing. Which they're doing. I know a bunch of the Apple koolaid drinkers and I get them all riled up when I call Facetime a gimmick who's efforts would have been better spent working on a good dashboard/widget based homescreen instead of a list of apps. ![]() |

*** PLEASE "PM" me with your votes/thoughts. I'm really only entertaining These Two phones, so if you could, keep that in mind. Thanks in advance!! ***
================================================== ================= Okay, here's my dilemma. I have til' June 25 to exchange my HTC Inspire that I picked up on 5/25, & have narrowed the choices down to the 2 above. So, I don't want to hear any "Try THIS phone, how about THAT phone, what about the "iPhone____" crap, alright? ![]() ![]() ![]() The INFUSE has a 8mp Camera w/flash, the ATRIX a 5mp Camera w/dual LED flash. The Infuse screen size is 4.5" ( ![]() Here's a Video comparison I found at YouTube, which is very detailed. This particular place does very good tests betwee various phones (I've looked at a ton, so trust me, they're excellent & easy enough to follow for a phone noob' like myself): INFUSE vs ATRIX - Part 1: INFUSE vs ATRIX - Part 2: |

I'm a dunce when it comes to cellphones and all of the features it has, but I'm using it more and more lately to check stuff online. Pretty cool actually!
Anyway, when I connect at times I get a pop-up screen asking me if I want to connect to a Wi-fi network? I always decline.....but should I? What if I accept? |

In some cases, a wi-fi signal is strnger than your mobile data connection. There's nothing wrong with connecting to a wi-fi spot when you're in that area. In fact, I always try to so that I won't use my mobile data....unless a particular hot spot connection is slower than my mobile data connection, then I don't even worry about it. |

Just ordered a Samsung Epic 4g. Wanted a Blackberry Bold 9930 but it's been out of stock since release and none of the stores near me have it. So after weeks of checking every day I started to veer out into other phones and this thing is cheaper, has more power, a bigger screen (4" vs 2.8), and Android.
So that's what I'll have for the next 22 months. |
