Brilliant film. And some of the imagery is so beautiful it begs to be seen in 1080p HD. Bit surprised Optimum are releasing it (I thought it was a Miramax film), but regardless of who's releasing it, I hope they do a fine job on the transfer.

It is a Miramax film (as listed on the BVA site), like The Others is aswell, so it looks like Optimum have gotten the rights to some of the Miramax film library, along with Lionsgate.

I've already got the German release and I'm very happy with it, but I'm glad the UK is finally getting its own release

Default 1080i or p?

I see it's listed as 1080p - whereas the German one (Kinowalt?) is 1080p. Any ideas why or if we're going to get the interlaced version?

Has anyone compared this UK version of the English Patient with the German Studio Canal release?

It appears the above description doesn't have the aspect ratio right.

Makes me wonder about the rest of the picture.

Yes it would. And, unfortunately, that review says nothing about a comparison between the the two Region B versions, the English and German.

Both those are available from Amazon. Just wonder what the difference, if any, might be?

Such a fine film, it would be nice to know.

I have already discovered to my dismay the Canadian 1080i version advertised as Blu-Ray.

So the English and German version remain the only choices left in Blu-Ray.

Some people on a french forum said the french/english br was different from the us one. Can someone confirm that? Is it the same as the german br?
