Default No picture with Samsung 1400 and Panasonic projector

I have a friend who is attempting to hook his Samsung BDP-1400 Blu-Ray player up to a Panasonic PTD 3500U projector via HDMI to DVI-D. No picture. I am posting this for him in the proper forum since he can't make new threads yet.

He's tried everything he can think of, and there are weird EDID settings on both the player and the projector. He has them set on EDID 1. The projector is capable of 1080i max and he has the player set to output at that resolution, but still either the player is not sending the video to the projector or the projector is unwilling to receive it.

Any ideas on how to remedy this situation?

Is the projector's DVI input HDCP compliant?

From the specs, or call the display's manufaturer?

Also you could try testing the 1400 with a known DVI HDCP compliant display and see if it shows a picture.

Does your Display have component inputs so you can try those with the BD player?

Spec indicate HDCP.. but they are SO many problems with DVI to HDMI... that i wouldn't be suprised if that was one of them..

I think this is the HDMI to DVI connector I've used successfully on occasion, if it helps

more then likely you have the output of the 1400 set at 24 frames(1080p playback requires HDMI-compatible HDTV, and 24p True Cinema requires 24p-capable HDTV) and the projector can not handle it

We made sure the player was not set at 24p, especially since the projector's maximum capability seems to be 1080i. It sounds like a HDMI to DVI issue. I think any serious projector should have an HDMI connection and DVI only if it intends to be used as a computer monitor... then it should have both.

It's not getting any video even from the player's GUI.
