Be patient. It'll drop in price by release day. Single movie Blu-rays are almost never that much by that time.

Would you recommend this for s blind buy? I like art films, but I don't like things that move slowly...How did this stack up?

I saw it in theaters and loved it. The film is more a drama than anything else. A drama about human connections. However, it did not move slowly to me. If you know the film is a drama and not really sci-fi and find it interesting, I'd recommend a blind-buy for sure.

To me, it's one of those films you don't think much of when you start it (the video-like look and hectic editing was a bit distracting visually, at first), but as you watch and invest time into the characters you find you care more and more for them. It's also one that you find you like more after it's ended, if that makes sense. The ending will definitely leave you thinking.

Coop,

Thanks for the mini-review, I wanted to see but it wasn't shown here in HI. May not be day one for me, but will get this down the road.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Coop. I won't be picking it up on day one either, but I'll grab it down the line.

I see Amazon has dropped this to $19.99. I did not see it listed in any of the major ads so I guess thats the cheapest it will be.

I am just glad it went to under 20 bucks. I would hate to have paid that near 30 price point that it was a bit ago

I think I'll wait on picking this up until the price drops. I haven't seen it yet and judging from the trailers and the fact that it was shot on a pretty low-end HD camera, the video is not going to be pretty.

As of now, this is still my favorite film of 2011 (It's followed closely by Drive and Hanna). It's pretty polarizing, but immensely satisfying for those willing to embrace the intense and gritty emotionality of the film. I wrote this review of the film if anyone's still on the fence:

"The year’s best movie has arrived and it’s called ‘Another Earth’, a stunningly rendered combination of character drama and science fiction philosophy. But unlike sci-fi works such as ‘Children of Men’ or ‘Dune’, the point of thematic reflection is focused not on society as a whole, but on society at a personal level. It asks: What are the sacrifices of redemption on the path to self-forgiveness? Shot in probing HD and filled with wonderful unknown performers, the film feels real. We are lost in the freewheeling energy of the unpredictability and the suspense of emotion, with a story that not only titillates the mind, but also allows the viewer introspection. This is not ‘Transformers’, but a deeply metaphorical and human film that is profoundly and universally beautiful. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

It wasn't in the ad, so judging from the website, it will be $24.99 on Tuesday.

This was one of my favorite films of 2011. It actually WAS my favorite until I saw The Descendants last night.

Not really in agreement with that review at all. I thought the film was superb. Very real, and had a terrific ending. One of my favorites this year, and I'll definitely be picking it up.

The only thing that bothers me about the review is the poor video score...

It was shoot in 720p? Thats crazy, even I shoot in 1080p and I have a film student's budget (thats like next to nothing). Seems like a really bizarre choice.

Yeah, the video quality wasn't one of the reasons I loved this in theaters. It looked a bit muddy a lot of the time. I haven't seen the film on Blu yet, but I think the reviewer probably got that right. Don't go in expecting a terrific looking film. It's very raw and low budget.
