Hey there gang, I just picked up a new blu ray that came out Tuesday called "Without Men". Put it in last night and it makes it to the Menu and then you can't do anything. It plays a cycle of music and clips and then freezes. Anybody else know of this issue? A recall possibly on the disc? My older blu ray player won't even load it - just spits it back out. Thanks! Dana

On what model player does it freeze? What model player spits it back out? Are either or both of these fully profile 2.0 compliant? If I have specifics, I can report them to my contact at Maya. |

Hi there and thank you for your response.
My DENON 2500-BTCI is the unit that it makes it to the menu and then just freezes. My SAMSUNG BD-P1400 is the one that doesn't load and just ejects it. As far as "fully profile 2.0 compliant" I am not even sure what that means? I also noticed that on the DENON unit I can Chapter Forward through all of the coming attraction on the disc except for the last Coming Attraction. The disc makes you watch it and then the Menu loads. As if the last coming attraction is somehow part of the Menu or first chapter of the film. I have never had issues with this DENON unit on any blu ray discs. The SAMSUNG however is older and I can understand it just spitting it out although I have done all of their released software upgrades on it. Thanks again for your help. I was planning on returning the blu ray today. One thing I found amazing at my Hastings store where i purchased it. They had the blu ray for sale at $16.99 and the regular DVD was priced at $18.99. Is this becoming the norm now? BR discs being cheaper than DVD? Dana |

Profile 2.0 means that the player supports the full Blu-ray spec, including BD-Live and other advanced features. Without Men appears to be mastered using BD-Java -- although for no good reason, since it has no features -- and it's usually the Java code that causes these kinds of problems. As for pricing, I've given up trying to understand it. ![]() |

This was, to be quite honest, the absolute worst film i've ever seen in my life. I bought the film for Slater, but he's barely in it. Biggest let down.
