The current "My Two Cents" on the Digital Bits site has this title:
"Cloverfield Monster picks HD-DVD - click here to read why!!" Anybody figure out what that refers to? I read the article a couple of times (basically a review of Cloverfield in theaters then some new release news) and am still scratching my head over what that's supposed to mean. (This isn't really an insider question about Blu-ray, which is why I'm not asking Bill Hunt on his insider thread.) |

It's a Paramount movie. Paramount is HD-DVD only.

As the monster destroys the city a la Godzilla, I think bill is basically just saying that HD DVD is f*cked (i.e. been destroyed by a cloverfield like monster).
If Penton Man said that, people would infer that since Cloverfield is a Paramount film, that Paramount has chosen to support BD and announcement is coming soon...especially with the P-man seemingly saving post 1080 for something good...maybe Monday? |

I understand that, but...
1. I think everyone already knew that given the current situation Cloverfield would by default appear on HD DVD, so saying they are "picking" HD DVD and "click here to read why" seems to promise more insight than that, and 2. I think odds are extremely good that Paramount will have at least gone purple by the time this movie hits HDM, so it's not really saying anything at all unless this is some gigantic hint that Paramount is never going purple or Blu. I normally find Bill Hunt's posts insightful, but as I said this was just confusing. |

Why didn't you just "click here"?

I think he just means the monster picked HD-DVD and went on a rampage, realizing its mistake.

I just came back from watching this film and I was slightly disappointed. I kept thinking throughout rhe movie that this really wouldn't benefit from an HD video feed since it has the whole camcorder style. I don't actually know what kind of camera this was shot with, but it didn't have great clarity in the theater. I knew it was going to have shakey cam, but it was rough at times. All in all it was just ok.

Much, much more than Bourne...it was kind of awkward at first. I kept hoping for some sort of anti-judder or something...j/k you do kind of get used to it, but it doesn't ever stop and in some places it's really bad. If you had to leave Bourne I don't know how well you'll do here. To me Bourne had some shakey moments much like The Kingdom, but this is obviously another level.

That's the point. I did, and that just takes you to the normal "My Two Cents" article, and it doesn't really explain the title.
It starts out like this: Quote:
I guess I thought the "RAWRRRRR!" was what made him laugh, but as someone else said it could be that he saw a site that had a joke where it said "Cloverfield Monster picks HD-DVD - click here to read why!!" and then when you clicked it just said "RAWRRRRR!", which cracked him up, so he was repeating that joke. Maybe I've lost my sense of humor when it comes to HD DVD. ![]() ![]() |

NO NO NO!!! The monster picked HDDVD and now HDDVD is dead so he's really pissed off and is taking out on NY. He's on a rampage for vengeance against paramount to go Blu after they went HDDVD. And the monster is even more enraged that Warner went Blu. That is why the monster picked HDDVD. Duh.
