Wisconsin really has an easy schedule ahead of them. Only ranked opponent they have left is Illinois. They definitely have a chance at running the table with their regular season schedule.

they say if the badgers can run the table and LSU, Alabama (??) and 1 other team that i can't remember all lose 1 or 2 games, that's what it would take for WI to be considered for the BCS championship game.

Ya, the Big Ten is somewhat in the dumps this season. Wisconsin would have to run the table to be considered for a national title game. Even then they might be on the outside looking in if two teams from better conferences went undefeated. I believe the Big Ten has a conference title game starting this season so they'd actually have to go 13-0, beating a team like Michigan or Michigan St. in the conf title game.

The weak schedule is partially their own fault. Wisconsin's non-conference schedule is among the crappiest in the nation. They scheduled UNLV, Oregon St., Northern Illinois and South Dakota. That's just inexcusable. They could have at least scheduled one quality non-conference opponent.

I really don't know if they'll move at all in the polls. None of the teams ahead of them lost and I don't know if their entire resume is impressive enough to jump any teams due to their previously mentioned out of conference schedule. I don't see Nebraska falling that much. Look at how the teams ranked behind them fared yesterday. South Carolina, Florida, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor, South Florida (Thursday), and TCU all lost. I could see them getting passed by Oregon, Clemson, Texas, and maybe Georgia Tech and Arkansas but I still don't see them being ranked below #15. |

They moved past Oklahoma in the AP poll to #2. LSU has played a tough schedule and beaten everyone handily, so it's hard for anyone to pass them as #1. And next week LSU has Florida. I don't know Florida QB Brantley's status, but if he's out for the LSU game LAU should win that one easily.
The biggest SEC matchup is November 5 - LSU @ Alabama. |

i hope they both stay undefeated (very likely). that's gonna be a GREAT match up!
i wonder, will we ever see a time when the SEC isn't such a force of nature? like, 10 years from now will the SEC still be running the show? no reason to think not, unless they lose teams (for wacky reasons) or they get busted by NCAA sanctions. i mean, it seems like 5-10 teams a year face penalties and yet... none are from the SEC...? almost seems suspicious ![]() ![]() |

Unbelievable that Oklahoma is #1 ahead of LSU and Alabama in one of the polls. They've played FSU, who is 2-2. LSU has played and beaten the crap out of Oregon and West Virginia. Bama played and beat Florida and Penn State. I don't like either school, but I just don't get it.
If they run the table and beat Texas, A&M, Oklahoma State, etc., then they'll definitely have an argument to be #1. But not yet. EDIT: I see now that a mere 13 votes separates the 3 teams. It's not really that big a deal. lol Last edited by Chordata; 10-03-2011 at 03:31 PM. |
