Default Newbie Here!

Yes, I'm a newbie on the board and just purchased a PS3 (40g). However, I'm lost when it comes to Bluray movies. Can anyone here give me some info?

Welcome aboard!

I would suggest clicking on movies, and checking out the various reviews and such in that section.

There are several "must-buys", but it depends on your taste of course, especially take note of any Disney movies, as they are usually top notch!

Also check out Casino Royale!

Welcome!

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/

I recommend a few catalog titles to go along with any new releases you may be interested in. Several older titles like The Rock and Con Air have excellent PQ and are more affordable than the new releases.

My guess from the tone of your post is that you bought the PS3 for gaming, but are curious about exploring the wonderful Blu-ray feature? Look no further than this site for info! Just click on the Movies link at the top menu for reviews and such (as others have pointed out).

If you are in the US, a lot of us use Amazon.com or Tower.com for buying movies online. I hear Fry's is good for in-store purchases. In my opinion, Best Buy and Circuit City are too expensive, unless they have a promo running.

PS... if you just bought your PS3, you should qualify for the 5 free Blu-ray movies promotion. That'll get your collection started. Be sure to check out www.bluraysavings.com!

ようこそ! Welcome to Blu-ray. We're glad that you are dipping into the Blu-ray pool and would be more than happy to answer your inquiries. However, could you please be more specific as to what you would like to know?

Do you want to know about the different Profiles Blu-ray has, how to maximize your experience with Blu-ray, or what Blu-ray is?

Hi there mrteachr.

Welcome to the forums. I'm technically new too as i've been a member since last October, but rarely get the chance to post anything on the forums. I do visit Blu-ray.com at work everyday though.

You made a good choice there. I've just purchased 40GB PS3 for our living room. It's our main Blu-ray player now.

By the way I'd easily recommend the Spider-Man HD Trilogy. That is a top notch Blu-sclusive. Also the Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy which are even better, I'd go as far as to say they're the best Blu's I own.

You will get great information here. I am also a PS3 owner and I would suggest you connect your PS3 to the Intenet, as there are plenty High Def trailers that you can download. I have made a few well informed purchases this way.

I just got my Blu Ray player, Panasonic DMP-BD30K and needed to get something to play on it.
How can anyone have a BR player and no movie?
We picked up the movie Eragon, with flying dragons and swords etc.
It took my breath away.... if this is a sample of Blu Ray HD, I am hooked!!
Thank you for listening.
Fred
