I have all but the last two Ultimate Editions. IIRC I have a couple from France (they were selling them off for peanuts and despite some text on the box art they are very English friendly).

The last film I opted for the 3D BDs instead. Now looking at prices I wish I'd gone for the UEs.

The new set is likely missing discs from the previous 8-Film collection. That one had 11 discs because of the bonus feature discs for some of the later movies, but with this set being 16 discs, and 8 of those being for the documentaries, the other 8 are just for the films. One step forward, two steps back. I don't see it including the extended cuts either.

Indeedy, but IIRC some of the content from those discs was carried over to the 8-part bonus discs, sadly WHLH wasn't one of them.

It surprises me just how little information they have given out on the new set. Amazon simply states that is has all the films... no word if the last two are the 3D editions or if the extended editions are involved.

I'm also surprised how difficult it is to simply get a set of blurays with all the extras, all the films including extended & 3d editions. Why do they keep getting excited about cramming 15 dvds in with it in the large sets?

The codes for HP are still being openly sold (I count 14 bought in the last 7 days alone) as are UV codes in general, I've sold about 150 over the last few months and not heard a peep from eBay. What you don't do is put the word 'copy' anywhere in the listing.

I didn't.
Ebay will only remove the titles if they get complaints from Warner via the VERO setup.
All the studios seem to complain about something on an irregular basis.
Warner also had all the unofficial dvd discs of Mad Magazine removved too a while ago. Warner having a purge I think as they even had them removed from Ioffer and having anything removed from Ioffer is rare. It's hard to find genuine stuff on there in amongst the mass of bootleg material

I sold my 11 disc set on eBay for £18, I expect the UV code will get £20, got my pre-order in at £35. A good upgrade for me [emoji1]

I just bought the Ghostbusters I & II double pack (had to rebuy after selling the UHDs) for £8 new, sold the code for £4 (net) on ebay. Lovely jubbly.

To go back to the Harry Potter set, if the 8-part bonus discs are indeed the same ones from the big bastard box set(s) then they do carry over most of the features from the 3 bonus discs that are in the 11-disc boxset...with the big exception of When Harry Left Hogwarts. I don't want to keep my old set just for one disc if I can come out even or perhaps ahead in terms of ££ for this potential upgrade (thanks to that lovely UV code ) so I'll have to, ah, see to it that I keep the documentary.

Is When Harry Left Hogwarts not available elsewhere, on a single release of DHP2 perhaps?

I have the original 8-film collection and it's probably not going to be complete for much longer.

At least on ebay it's possible to see what things are going for
I didn't say it was guaranteed to sell but I've flogged a LOT of Blus on there over the past few years, and not for pennies either. Even when stuff like the Superman music box set was going for £80 on ebay I had someone pay £200 for it on amazon! Not everyone checks every single site that sells stuff when they want x product.

Sure it is, it's on the 2-disc standalone BD. But I hate having redundant copies of movies just for a single bonus feature, and with all my chopping and changing of HP sets (this isn't my first rodeo ) it'd be great to have one reasonably-priced repository of all the HP goodness that I'd like to have. Then again, DH part 2 is available for £3 on amazon so I might as well grab it and tell my collector's OCD to STFU.

I didn't say it wouldn't sell.
I said its not possible to find out the going rate on Amazon like it is on ebay.
I list lots of things on Amazon because I know I won't get what I want on ebay.
But I usually take ebay prices into account even if I don't plan to list that low.
Anyone can list any item on Amazon at any price they want. Doesn't mean it will sell- this was in reference to you saying the 11 disc set still commands that price. But it might not. Just because its listed at that price doesn't mean anyone has purchased it at that price.
Listing it over priced means it might sit there long enough for the new release to become common knowledge in which case the 11 discer will become almost worthless ( until all Potter Blus are deleted again at least)

I sold my 11 disc set for £35 on Amazon a few weeks ago and the 3D double pack for £15 which covered the cost of the Hogwarts Collection.
No need for me to get the new set.
I think mine sold in the gap between the others getting deleted and before the new set was announced- hence the better price

The 11-disc set is still commanding that sort of price on amazon though, I'll list mine for £30 and see what happens. (I never sell Blus on ebay)

Yeah I didn't list mine till the new set was announced, I've kept the 3D double pack for now.

But I'm not "over pricing" it compared to anyone else who's selling it on there, geddit? So if some unsuspecting buyer happens across the listing for the 11-disc set and thinks "oh, I'll have that" (like I said, not everyone monitors every single auction/second hand selling website under the sun) then I've given myself a chance of making back a few quid.

If it doesn't sell, then so what? I'm taking a cheeky punt and seeing if it pays off, I've done it plenty of times before and I won't be crying into my cereal if it doesn't pan out. I won't be ordering/buying the new 16-disc set right now anyway, I'm waiting to see exactly what's in the set (and also for it to drop a few quid first ).

So if someone listed it at 86.42 you'd be happy to list it at £79.99? You won't be over pricing it then either.
Not logical if you actually want to sell it

However, I was simply disagreeing with your comment about the price the set commands on Amazon. Because you don't know what prices items have sold at you can't ever be sure about what anything commands on Amazon.
I've also taken a cheeky punt here and there with over pricing but it rarely pans out

Yes, that's exactly what I'd do. It's always worth a try.

Heh. While I've been typing this response my 11-disc has just sold on amazon for £29.99.

As I said, some people may be supersavvysavers but others are not. They go on amazon, they look at something, and they decide to buy it for the going price. Cheeky punts...they're fantastic.
