After seeing the flagship LG model at the Value Electronics shoot-out last night and today, I would steer clear of LG at all costs. The contrast on this years LG plasma displays is, to put it plainly, awful. The color accuracy on the LG displays is pretty great, but the 'blacks' are pretty much gray. Also, the LG seemed to exhibit a lot more image retention than the other two plasma's on display. Keep in mind I'm talking about the flagship model from LG. I can't even imagine how much worse the PZ550 is.

I think you would be much happier checking out the Panasonic 50ST30 or 55ST30. The 55 is about $150 more than your wanted price, but those 5 extra inches will make a difference. & The 50inch is $969, which is a fantastic price for such a great performing display.

50 ST30
55 ST30

Good luck man, hope this helps.
