I don't happen to have a lot of time this evening, but I plan to make a little time to watch a few minutes of The Tree of Life, easily one of my favorite films of this year.

My copy of the blu-ray is scheduled to arrive today.

I'm still holding out hope that a Criterion Collection release of this film will occur within the next year or two.

Same here. I knew I should have just ordered this from Amazon. I was worried BB wouldn't stock very many. My local store only got in 4 copies, all had sold by the time I stopped in.

They probably got enough complaints/returns to realize they were doing it wrong.

Good review, those screenshots.

Try to only focus on the techincal aspect, just odd that this site has this film and Pulp Fiction as inferior movies to Soul Surfer.

Arr, I just gave in and ordered TTOL at Amazon.com.

I saw the movie 2 times in the cinema, but the people were really obnoxious the first time, and I didn't want to risk having another unpleasant experience, so I told myself I would wait for the BD release.

$24.99 is REALLY expensive, but it's probably the cheapest we will see it for a while, right?

Do you guys think we could see this on sale on BF????

Either way I can't wait to experience this masterpiece again on my system.

I recently had the great pleasure of watching The Thin Red Line again on BD, and it was simply breathtaking.

First off, that is AWESOME to hear about it being Blu/Combo exclusive! Hopefully people will finally cave in and upgrade.

As for the DVD, they had discs with the RENTAL EXCLUSIVE logos on them. The cases looked like printed out photoshop work, which makes sense now.

I just find it even weirder now knowing that the film was specially released on Blu only, yet they go out of there way to ONLY carry a DVD rental version. What the heck?

Idk if the film will be on sale by Black Friday, but I would say it is fairly likely that it will go on sale within the next couple of months. Both 127 Hours and Black Swan, other Fox blu-ray releases from the Fox Searchlight line, have been on sale several times since their releases in March. According to Amazon price tracker, 127 Hours was on sale for under $20 by April.

That being said, it took Black Swan a little longer to drop - though it was also a much higher grossing film at the box office. I would expect Tree of Life to hit $12 within 6 months, but it could hit in less and will certainly be sub $20 even quicker.

I doubt that, the fact that it did not make alot of money in America I don't think will affect that. Given the quality of the disc and that film has strong core following fans will get the disc regardless. If it does well at Oscar time, like wins best picture, then maybe there will be some kind of deal.

It is possible for someone to remove that bluray.com logo from the screenshots? I want to use some of them as wallpapers.

It makes absolutely no sense they put that on there in the first place, considering they didn't make the film or have copyrights to it. That is seriously my biggest complaint about an otherwise great site.

I picked up the last copy my closest Best Buy had. I would have been sad if they were out. I couldn't help but pop it in and skim through it after watching the trailer for the 100th time. This is a stunner of a disc as pretty much everyone knows but I was still blown away actually getting to look at it. If companies want to sell high def, this is the disc they should use.
