Currently I have a region B 60GB PS3, it suits almost all my needs except being able to watch region A movies.
So I was thinking, if I bought a region A Blu ray player, would I benefit from a standalone, or just a 40GB PS3 from the States. Also is there any new additions we are waiting for on standalone players? I noticed recently someone sells region free players now (engadget reported on it I think) but they cost more than 2 PS3's anyway, which defeats the objective imo. Thanks, Richie. |

I would recomend a Panny BD30 for you. It's a good standalone player with PQ a little better than the PS3. Are you going to buy on Ebay? I don't know of any sites that post electronics to the UK.
If you buy from Ebay won't you have to pay really high customs to get it in the UK? I heard that British customs charges really high for any merchandise coming into the country. I would recomend searching on Ebay UK for a british seller who has a region A player. I've seen them before and it is rather common. |

I have friends in the USA who will mark the value down so that customs do not bother me. I very rarely pay customs. The last time was about 8 years ago. To be honest I don't know what people do wrong that they get caught all the time.
Some websites even have a special option to get around it hehe. |

If it has no receipt on the outside they go by insurance value. Just mark it down. EMS has $100 free insurance and its trackable via www.usps.com and www.parcelforce.co.uk.

PS3 systems use a 3 pin kettle people worldwide. You just change the lead over to whatever lead you buy that will fit.
The internal power supply of the PS3 universal and does not need conversion. For any other player, a stepdown converter will by required. |
