Does the site automatically resync data with another database; e.g. Amazon?
I corrected the UPC and EAN for the following X-Files title yesterday. The change was accepted and I confirmed that the UPC/EAN was updated. Clicking on, Edit movie, today shows that I contributed the changes however the changes I made to the UPC/EAN yesterday have since reverted back to the incorrect data and it still has my name listed by those fields. ![]() https://www.blu-ray.com/products/?p=...on=editproduct |

The issue I had was not with my own ratings, of which I have none, but with the yellow stars for film ratings and Blu-ray discs for disc ratings, which showed the average user rating. Yesterday was the first time I saw them. They're gone today though.

No problem, not a big deal, it would just be more accurate
![]() It's weird, I've updated a few Blu-rays and a DVD, but it won't let me update Forgetting Sarah Marshall. There are 2 cuts: Theatrical and Unrated/Extended |

A duplicate of https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Downfall-Blu-ray/1566/ was created with https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Downfall-Blu-ray/31496/ but listing it as a U.S. edition.

Iceman,
There seems to be a problem with the UPC/EAN fields in the database as I'll explain below. As another example, I added a new DVD entry (101 Dalmatians: Limited Edition) which was approved several days ago. Since that time the EAN has been automatically updated. The database still shows that I made the current change to the EAN field which I did not. For US releases, a '0' is added to the beginning of a UPC-A (UPC-12) code which doesn't have an EAN-13 (also known as GTIN). See the following links from GS1: http://www.nepc.gs1.org.sg/html/Data...ry/EANCode.htm http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/support/...git_calculator GS1 has reserved 000-019, 030-039, or 060-139 (basically 00-13 for the first two digits) for the first three digits of a US EAN-13 code. '978' is reserved for the first three digits of bookland (or ISBN) numbers. http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/support/prefix_list I contributed the following info: UPC: 7-17951-00397-3 EAN: 0-717951-003973 The database was automatically updated to: UPC: 7-17951-00397-3 EAN: 9-780788-817250 This release also has a 10-digit ISBN (ISBN-10) number of 0-7888-1725-6. Basically, '978' was added to the first 9 digits of the ISBN-10 number '078881725' and the last digit of the ISBN-10, '6', was replaced by a '0'. Basically, this new number is a valid 13-digit ISBN (ISBN-13) which now appears in the EAN-13 field. Converting a ISBN-10 of 0-7888-1725-6 results in an ISBN-13 of 978-0-7888-1725-0. It's true that a ISBN-13 number is equal to the EAN-13. However, '978' is usually reserved for books. It's probably more appropriate to use the '0' + UPC-A for the EAN-13 code for video releases. Info on the Bookland EAN: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookland A UPC that starts with 071 would be identified as a product released from the US; not necessarily so with a product that starts with 978. The title in this example can be found here: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/101-Dalmatians-DVD/20932/ Are the UPC/EAN numbers being updated from another source? EDIT: Couple of european comparisons: Again for reference, http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/support/prefix_list The UK Julia's Eyes blu-ray has an EAN-13: 5-055201-814807; the 505 identifies this as a product released from the UK. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cargo-Blu-ray/15329/ The DE Cargo blu-ray has an EAN-13: 7-613059-401105; the 761 identifies this as a product released from Switzerland. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cargo-Blu-ray/15329/ The MX Dumbo blu-ray has an EAN-13: 7-509656-301330; the 750 identifies this as a product released from Mexico. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dumbo-Blu-ray/10385/ Last edited by rdodolak; 10-15-2011 at 12:57 AM. |

Hello Iceman,
I would like to make a suggestion to make navigation easier on Blu-ray.com's forum site. John72953 recommended that I pose my suggestion here. Some other sites that I am a member of, repeat at the bottom of each page of a thread, the ability to go back to the main sub-forum thread. It is identical to the top of each page like what appears at the top of this page: Blu-ray Forum > Blu-ray.com > Feedback Forum This would enable us to just click the link, when we finish reading the last post, instead of having to hit the "home" key on the keypad to go to the top of the page and then click on the link to go back to the main sub-forum page. My suggestion would be to place this link structure right below the last post and right above the Similar Threads box. Do you think this might also work on this excellent web site? ![]() |

Have you thought about letting site members edit the name, cast and director of movies?
You guys barely cover it and I am sure if you gave us a chance, you would see a lot of improvement when linking actors, directors to their movies. Just an example, Quentin Tarantino isn't linked with Jackie Brown. And in Inception, other than Leonardo DiCaprio, the other cast had a very minor role, where are the rest of the cast? Of course those were only 2 examples out of the thousand. Hoping you would consider this. |

Unless I'm going completely insane that 'trail' is already at the top of the page... Personally I click New Posts and make my way through that, right clicking and opening in a new tab any threads I'm interested in, keeping the original New Posts page open in the first tab, which I go back to when I've looked at/read/replied to/closed the threads in the other tabs ![]() |

BTW you do not have to right click, just hold down your control key while clicking the link and it would open another tab for you. ![]() Thanks for adding to the conversation. |
