Just because people are refusing to boycott the Green Lantern SteelBook™ is in no way an indicator that they prefer the G1 size. You live in Canada and can get many SteelBooks™ each year while those of us here in the States can't be so picky since we only get a very few. I certainly prefer G2 but will still buy a G1 if I have no other retail choice here. (My shelves have long since stopped being uniform in size what with the tins, digibooks, and odd-sized TV seasons there).

Welcome to the world of G-1!

Anyone in need to this steelbook before I return it? Rather see someone here take it. Going to hold it for a week.

Pretty lame of Best Buy to only have the SteelBook on sale for two days.
Up to $34.99 and now looks unavailable for shipping too.

That's why I hate these damn Friday releases. There's only two days until a new ad comes out on Sunday. I was lucky that my work schedule allowed me to get to a BB on Friday morning.

You can also order it online and pickup within a week. You risk the chance of getting a dented one, but thats what I did. Ordered it around 5am when I woke up and went to BB at 11am to pick it up.

I wouldn't touch this G1 case with a 10 foot pole. You guys should talk to your friends up north and get the G2 version of the same exact artwork.

No way in hell I'm paying 2X as much for a smaller case. A better movie perhaps, but not this one.

I only paid $10 more. Worth it IMO to go G2. The more people buy these G1's, the more the studios think its ok to pump them out.

Exactly! That is why I do not purchase:

Fake-rays (DVD release with a BD in it)
3D BDs
G1 steelbooks

Sucker Punch Comic Con steelie is a rare exception since it truly is a collector's item not available to the general public.

The only problem with that is it's not how they will see it. The companies will see no one buy the G1 steel and say that we don't want a steelbook period. As some have already said, G1 steelbook is better than no steelbook at all.

WB Shop is still selling these truly collector's items to the general public, if they don't mind G-1's.

If you only paid $33 then you must have driven to Vancouver to get one.

That's funny that the price jumped up to $34.99 after 2 days for an item that you cannot get! I'm guessing that they figure why keep it on sale for more than that because they know it will sell out fast. Only BB exclusive steel I still see in the stores is "Twilight: New Moon".

Your logic confuses me.

So, according to you, a G1 steelbook isn't a 'true' blu-ray, but then again it is if its rare? whaaaa....

Nope. There is a guy on this forum selling them for that. He is just doing us all a favor and not taking any profit. Of course you have to pay for shipping, but that is much cheaper than the gas money I would pay to drive there.

When you said you paid $10 I assumed you included the shipping price. So what did you pay total with shipping?

They are not that rare you can order the same Sucker Punch from the Wbshop.com. And there in stock. Green Lantern can not be found in stores and is not available for shipping from BB and it just came out Friday. So how is it not rare? Same goes for Fast Five and good luck trying to find Hurt Locker for under a $100. All 3 are G1 and hard to find. And 2 of the 3 came out this month

Never had any intention to buy this but i did notice my local Best Buy was sold out of them. I don't think the average consumer really cares about the G1 vs G2 size thing but i know personally the G1 cases stick out like a sore thumb. I can't bring myself to purchase a G1 but i do think it's a nice looking steel.
