Of course its a big deal, but he still doesnt need to jump around like a little school kid in the playground, I would expect players to do so, but coaches are held to a higher standard in the NFL, and both coaches were out of line...

So apparently ESPN won't elaborate on what "exclusive" means in regard to Jon Gruden's contract, and there is speculation that Gruden could leave for a coaching job at any time.

...A team Dungy couldn't win with. I'm not knockin' Tony as he did win in Indy. Having said that, Gruden is a good coach. He had a good record in Oakland and then won a Super Bowl in Tampa. He's "blood n guts" football and holds his staff and players accountable. If they are unable to match his intensity and required commitment to win, then they're gone. I had hoped the Browns would try and get him after firing Mangini but no such luck.

Garrard wont play a down this season

According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, free agent David Garrard needs "immediate" surgery on a herniated disc in his troublesome back.
In the words of Glazer, "take one name out of (the) search for (a quarterback)." The announcement goes a long way toward explaining Garrard's recent coyness about a possible return. It also puts extra pressure on the Raiders to make a trade to upgrade Kyle Boller ahead of Tuesday's deadline, as Garrard was easily the most attractive free agent candidate. Garrard should no longer be expected to take the field this season, making it quite possible he's played his final NFL down at the age of 33.

Rams released WR Mike Sims-Walker.
A move Sims-Walker hinted at on Monday morning is now official. It speaks to how big of a disappointment MSW was during his short time in St. Louis that the Rams opted to keep recent signee Nick Miller instead even though he has yet to play a down. Now let go by two of the league's most receiver-thin teams in the span of a year, it's hard to see MSW generating much, if any, interest on the open market. He is still only 26 years old, however.

What the heck happened to Mike Sims-Walker? In 2009 he looked like one of the games top up-and-coming receivers and now he can't even keep a job. I've heard he's got an attitude problem but lots of receivers do. I just don't know how a healthy player can fall that quickly.

Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz’s altercation heard around the football world may have been inspired by a mistake Harbaugh made in the first quarter Sunday.

After Brandon Pettigrew scored the game’s first touchdown, Harbaugh decided to challenge the play. He was given a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for an illegal challenge. (All scoring plays are automatically reviewed.)

Chris Chase at Yahoo! Sports unearthed the television broadcast of the aftermath, which shows Lions coach Jim Schwartz enjoying the penalty to no end. He strutted up and down the sideline yelling towards the 49ers sideline.

It’s unclear what Schwartz yelled, but it seemed to be about knowing the rules. (Check around the 2 minute mark of the video.) Perhaps that moment caused Harbaugh to be a little more exuberant in his back-slapping at the game’s end.

I don't remember seeing that but if it happened then Schwartz owes Harbaugh an Apology because turnabout is fair play.

Allen Park — Lions coach Jim Schwartz on Monday called his postgame confrontation with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh a "regrettable situation."

"It's a regrettable situation, particularly the fact that it detracted from what happened in the game," Schwartz said during his weekly press conference Monday. "It is unfortunate that the end of the game overshadowed that fact that it was probably one of the best football games of the day yesterday between two teams that are 5-1 in the NFC and are both young and improving teams."

Schwartz on Sunday took issue with an over-exuberant Harbaugh, who gave Schwartz a hard handshake and slap on the back before jogging away following the game. Schwartz immediately turned and directed a comment toward Harbaugh, whose reply apparently upset Schwartz.

"It's unfortunate," Schwartz said Monday. "The game is played by players on the field. We don't want things like that to occur, but there are competitive people in this league. We need to do a better job of leaving it on the field."

Schwartz said he spoke with Harbaugh when both coaches were off the field Sunday.

"I saw him in the tunnel and spoke to him," Schwartz said. "Everything had died down and we said that we'll talk again soon."

Schwartz said he was interview by NFL officials about the incident Monday and provided his version of events.
