United Kingdom Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva Blu-ray - Deluxe Edition

From Manga Entertainment:

Quote:
THE PROFESSOR'S FIRST MOVIE AND HIS TOUGHEST PUZZLE YET! Professor Layton, true English gentleman and the world's greatest amateur super sleuth embarks on his most daring adventure yet when he receives a letter from his old student, the famous opera diva Janice Quatlane. She is to perform at the legendary Crown Petone Opera House and invites him to attend as her special guest. Meanwhile, a spate of disappearances hits London. Two young school girls are the latest victims and the Professor suspects it's related to the mysterious occurences at the theatre. The Professor and his loyal assistant Luke travel to the Opera House to solve their toughest puzzle yet, the mystery of Eternal Life! Based on the UK's favourite Nintendo DS game, Professor Layton And The Eternal Diva is a brand new adventure produced by Level 5, the creator's of the multi-million selling Professor Layton puzzle games.
Just wanted to say I got this from Amazon UK the other day and thought it was a nice, little movie. It has a nice blend of traditional animation and CG. I've never played the Layton games so all the characters were new to me. The storyline I found to be entertaining and apparently it takes places after the fourth Layton game. It was a good mystery and has a sweet ending to it. It's definitely not Miyazaki good but for what it is, it's decent. The packaging itself was great. Check it out:
[Show spoiler]

The boxset I got has the movie on blu ray and DVD and has a bonus DVD included but you can get it on it's own on BD or DVD.

Word of warning, I can't test myself but Manga's rep stated that the licence holder instructed them to region code the disc "B" so N. American fans of Layton beware!

I prefer the version without the storyboard book.

I liked it. But then again, I like all kinds of animations. If you're looking at this for rewatchablity, look elsewhere. Unless you really, really like Layton, rent this and if you agree with it, buy it. Otherwise just a rental will do.

As much as I was going to buy the BD, Asda were doing the DVD for a fiver and it would be like looking a gifthorse in the mouth at that price.

If it's any good, I'll gift onto my girlfriend, as she loves Professor Layton and then pick up the BD.

VIZ owns the English language rights so I think you'll get at least a DVD release out of this, as other the Death Note movies, I haven't seen any other VIZ blu ray releases.

You could buy the boxset and watch the DVD version included and simply wait till multi-region players get cheaper and easier to buy in the US

You never know, Viz might get to it at some point, they did release the Death Note movie set not too far back.

It is a movie, you know. How on earth will it be interactive? You can think for yourself when they are solving a puzzle, but that's about it.

In my opinion, it was a really great movie!

I interactively threw the disc across the room.

Take that, Wii Fit.

I just got the standard UK Blu-ray and on the back of the case says the special features are 30 minutes but when I put the movie in the only options are to play the movie., change audio and chapter selection. Am I missing something?

I've got the 3 disc digipak version and the extras are on a separate DVD. There are no extras on the Blu-ray, which I presume is the same disc as the standard.
