Disappointed when tossers try and steal. There must be something that can be done, reporting to their local police or something, in some cases in runs to several hundred $$$ and £££s.

Already scammed by 'ihabfan' for 30 British Pounds long time back and now 195 British Pounds is hanging in thin air.

Given the current situation, eBay feels like a safer place to buy / sell.
Is this seller from the Netherlands?

Not surprised if it is "swallahjax" as he has been banned from here and several other sites for pulling the same crap.

Even if traders and sellers have excellent feedback (IE Waiterguy...went off the rails and apparently ripped off a few people here), you can still get burned. Too bad there no system in place to monitor trades and purchases.

This is the reason I don't/seldom trade anymore. I tend to do the majority of my deals locally.

Thanks for the information.

I am not sure why the moderators aren't stepping in despite reporting to them. If they vouch for the victims, we can at least present it as proof to notify PayPal.

Other known aliases of the member Cees aka Goatrider aka Swallahjax are still active on this forum as vrising and aklass. You may notice that both of these names did a "trade" with Cees.

Just FYI.

There must be a way that all of us have our individual thread in one dedicated part of the forum.

So i was to trade with someone, i can go there and will say how many live trades a guy has got going and how many have been done.

You can track if a newbie is doing several trades at one time and whether they are coming off, something like that.

On another forum, when a trade goes on, they list the names of parties and the trade being undertaken.

These guys tend to scam in bulk and so perhaps we should limit some trades until you have accumulated a certain number of trades.

Im just suggesting here, feel free to throw in with your own ideas, there's no way to completely eliminate this, but we can try and stop some of these tossers who are regularly coming here and doing it.

Also, can't mods tell from IP addresses who these people are.

If someone is scamming, being banned and then returning under a different name, surely the IP address should show?

Angry Cees scammer

I'll post this here also.

This guy got banned a while back on another forum, was going under the name "Woodan" he got caught before he did anymore damage. Same forum he was going under the name "Goatrider", I just saw his selling threads and they are identical word for word!!!! Sorry to hear lgans316 and other members getting burn like this.

Got this from a reliable source, says the accounts are still active "both the aklass and vrising logins are still active. If you check Cees tradingscore, you'll notice that both of those logins left positive trade feedback."

Also avoid dealing with members with user-id like *habfan* who have very less or no feedback.

All we can do is ban them. Cees had not other ip (account matches). Members can/should protect themselves by a only using PayPay (as requiered by the rules), asking for proof of shipment the next day after paymet is made, and if dealing with some with less than 20 positive feedback, ask them to ship first or no deal!
Look through their feedback, if you see a bunch of +1 from new members with no other feedback, stay away. Unfortunally a lot of dirt bags can create dupe accounts with diffferent ips to scam traders/buyers.

All of the accounts created by the scammer (Cees) had different e-mail and ips. To say that the mods knew about Cees and allowed him to scam is not true. I never received a complaint, e-mail, or reported post about this guy until yesterday.

My proposal to the moderators:

1. Moderators should do basic due diligence about traders with low or zero feedback. Besides Cees, presently I notice one trader in the Steelbook section who could be a scammer based on the id and content posted.

2. Transacting parties must share their contact details if asked.

3. Sellers with low or zero feedback should disclose their contact details with potential buyers if requested. This gives buyer an opportunity to directly contact the seller and not via PM.

4. Depending upon the circumstances, sellers with low or zero feedback should accept to ship the item by accepting part payment from buyer to prove their credibility and as a gesture of imparting trust and confidence among the trading community.

5. Create a separate dispute section to dealing with disputed trades.

Contact Details = Name, address, email-id, IM id and phone number

I am sorry to hear about all the recent issues people are having. There have been times when I have shipped first and even told the other party to keep the item free of charge if it showed up with a little defect and if I really didn't feel like it was a loss.

It is unfortunate that these D-bags are taking advantage of collectors. This is why I am very selective about who I deal with me.

It appears these scammers know the rare steelbooks or high wants people are looking for in order to pull a fast one.

Hope everything works out for those who have been impacted.

When the last scammer tried it on with me, he even sent me pictures of the rare steelbooks he was trading with.

The scammers have the steelies usually, they have some good feedback and so it can be difficult not to believe it is a viable trade.

Sometimes the tossers even do a few good trades with people you see regularly just to give themselves some credibility.

A lot are keen on the cross continent sales, so you should be wary when that happens.

Got scammed by this douche - AVOID. Shipped him a Steelbook and he would only pay for Lettermail. Did the classic no tracking item not received scam. 15 feedback including one where he says he got a refund since the item got lost in the mail. Hate lowlifes like that. PP is a f'n joke, of course - literally instantly gave him a full refund... they didn't even give me a chance to provide tracking info if I had it.

I'm sorry to be the one who says it, but it's your own fault for not sending it with tracking. Everyone knows how easy it is to scam a seller on eBay with the way the rules and Paypal are unfairly biased towards the buyer.
