If they pull an Xmen III on us and suddenly major, canonical characters are dropping dead in uber quick and meaningless deaths all over the place? All bets are off.

I think they'll do better here. I'm not worried about Spiderman 3 at all.

Don't even get me started on the whole Xmen movies, Fox butchered the series, and didn't put Gambit (the most popular Xman of all time) in any of the films, stupid decision IMO.

It looks awesome from what I've seen of it. Very rich charcater-wise and action-packed.

If they can go on making great movies, why not do so?

I was a bit shocked at that in X-men 3 as well but I dont think you will see that here because you got the same director on all 3 movies

They'll have to have someone come in and make an amazing part 4 to get the series back on track. It can be done, but it'll take some real effort and grade A talent up and down behind the camera.

They need a bunch of new screenwriters, a new director, and a new producer. Get Sam Raimi (Spiderman director) in to direct it, but he is tied in to Colombia for a while yet, the problem with X3 was that the story was so, so bad, they tackled the wrong story arc. The Phoenix saga was always going to be too complicated for one film's worth, they could easily have spread the whole story over two films. They also got basic character abilities wrong, Rogue was a good example, she absorbed superstrength and flight from Ms Marvell, but that was never shown, Jean Gray has proper control over her telekinesis, but only for short periods of time, rather than poor control for very little to no time at all. They need to sort a lot of stuff out, bring Scott (Cyclops) back somehow, he doesn't die, he is the field commander for the X-Men, they already brought Prof X back, even though the method was stupid as Charles has a brother, but it is not his twin, it is the Juggernaught. Rogue does NOT take the 'Cure'!!!!!!!!!!!

Lastly, put Gambit it!

So atm I don't hold out much hope for the X-Men franchise, Spiderman has served me and many comic fans well, and I hope that it continues to do so in any possible fourth film.

^^ Maybe get Ridley Scott to save the thing.

i did read something about an x-men 4. i'll be honest to say that i'd be excited to see it. of course, the wolverine and magneto spinoffs could rightly be called xmen4 and 5.

about tobey maguire, i am of the mindset that if you pa a guy enough, he will always do the role. if you look at his imdb profile http://imdb.com/name/nm0001497/ he has done some good/great films. however, he really isn't really known except to the movie community, and even then those that pay attention. i think for him it is a fun role. why the heck not do it? you put out consistent winners, have fun, and make a good deal of bank. i don't see him as being a typical a+ star. i see him being more of a spacey long term in terms of roles. the problem is that he isn't old enough. eventually, he may get there (comparing him to spacey maybe isn't fair given how good he is, but do have to compare him to somebody).
