Default Question About Blue Light Streaks In Blu-Ray Films.

I have noticed in many new released films this year, that when a light on set is filmed be it from a lamp, sunlight, or headlights from a car that there is a blue line/streak and I was wondering if this intentional or not? because its kind of annoying I am sure its shown up in older movies as well, I have not really notice it much until now. All the new super hero movies suffer from this so does Fast Five and many others. Can someone explain to me if this is normal or not

Thanks

It's called "Lens Flare" - Click HERE to read up on it.

Seen a lot in many films, yes, (Super 8, F5, Star Trek [2009], many others).

Let Me In also has Lens Flare, I believe Reeves uses this method from Abrams
with Chloe Grace Moretz DOB 2/10/97

Noway will we see her in The Expendables

JJ went overboard with lens flares in Star Trek.

That's a characteristic of Panavision's anamorphic lenses. They're prone to horizontal streaky flares. Anamorphic flares seem to be a bit of a trend these days.

Is it possible to get rid of lens flare with cgi? I would be nice to know what films have put lend flare in and what films have lens flare but don't want it. It bugs the hell out of me mostly in dark scenes where everything all ready looks washed out without it on my tv.

I Am not to happy with becoming a trend. I know this has nothing to do with this thread, but any anyone tell my why my Tv looks watched out in dark scenes in films? Yes my TV is tweaked to my eyes. Maybe I have one setting too high? If that was the case what setting would that be? Back light, Contrast or Brightness?

here is pic of this blue streak am talking about

Well, aside from the inherent limitations of LCD displays, you might have mismatched levels between your TV and player. You have a PS3? Try toggling between these two settings: http://manuals.playstation.net/docum...fullrange.html

Yes I am using a PS3 .RGB Full Range was set to limited I switched it to Full. I will have to watch a few films to see if I noticed a difference, Thank you for the suggestion.

My Back light is set to the default 6 I will play around with this rgb setting and go from there with the Back light setting

RGB set to full makes things looks darker, I am wondering though will light scenes not shine as much in this mode? I guess I need to find a balance. Anyone have any tips on a good balanced settings to start from
