United Kingdom Chungking Express from Artificial Eye

Artificial Eyes will release Chungking Express on January 26, 2009 (same day as Ashes of Time).
Could be a alternative for those in region B if Criterion Collection really uses region encoding on their delayed releases.

I also expect to see some differences in the color-scheme.

I hope the cover is better, I don't like the Criterion cover so much...

Just received this in the post and can confirm that, unlike the Criterion release, it is region free.

NO TONY RAYNS COMMENTARY?!?!?!

AE come ON! How much were Criterion asking for that? Was it REALLY so much that you could not afford it?

Next time I see Mr.Rayns I'm asking what on earth happened.

Just viewed this last night for the very first time. I LOVED the first half and enjoyed the second.

Are there any other Wong Kar Wai's films on blu-ray other than As Tears Go By, Chungking Express, Fallen Angels and Happy Together?

I've struggled to get on with many of Wong Kar-Wei's other films but Chungking is up there as one of the best films I've ever seen.

Also, does anyone else feel that Chungking Express and Coppola's Lost In Translation are perfect partners for each other? To my mind they seem to explore many of the same themes albeit in different ways... although the subtle humour is there to be found in both.

Days of Being Wild and My Blueberry Nights are also available on Blu-ray.

My personal favorites are Chungking, Fallen Angels, Ashes of Time and In the Mood for Love. Unfortunately, ItMfL and 2046 are not yet available on Blu-ray.

I agree. They're both all about ambiance and mood and lovely music. Thanks for reminding me that Lost in Translation was not yet a part of my collection. Now it sure is.

Didn't you enjoy Happy Together or have you not seen it yet?

Nova Media have announced the release of Chunking Express.

Whether it's of the original release akin to the AE or the tinkered WKW version remains to be seen.
