Whoever said they are overpriced should compare getting a good class A/B receiver and a 9 channel power amplifier. Gonna be more expensive. An emotiva XPA 5 899; XPA3 699; XPA1 849 [There is a sale on emotiva power amps right now] to equal 9 channels driven. Pretty good price for the Pioneer.

Here is the conclusion to the review of the sc57. Remember the difference between the 55 and 57 is very minimal.

Conclusion
If you can get past the less than user-friendly GUI and instruction manual and the unintuitive first-time setup and make it a point to tap the smartphone app, you’ll find that using the SC-57 is a pleasure. And while Pioneer’s MCACC setup and room correction software may have an ungainly name, its effectiveness is impressive, even transformative.

This AVR’s nine-channel, three-zone capabilities (including HD component video available to Zone 2) offer unparalleled setup flexibility. If your speakers can be biamped, I’d bet the sonic improvement would be noticeable. The system’s somewhat dark character will work better with speakers that are either bright or relatively flat on top and less well with already dark speakers that tend roll off the highs. But whatever your speakers’ tonal character, there should be more than sufficient power to drive them to their full dynamic potential.

As an old stalwart, I still prefer a good Class A/B amp. But the Pioneer Elite SC-57’s Class D amp is so good that in some ways it’s more a matter of different than better or worse. I can understand why some might prefer its sonic character. In the end, the SC-57 offers a lot of everything—including great sound—at a very reasonable price

Finally here is the link to the entire article for you to read.

did you miss post #9? I already posted that link.

and for what its worth, I have a good class AB amp receiver, and I don't need a power amp to power my 4 ohm speakers.

USA SC55 and SC57 are a joke

home theater magazine lab test shows that all channels driven sc55 and sc 57 only produce 90 watts. I would get with the sc-35 or sc 37 all channels driven in a 8ohms load they only drop down about 5 watts all channels driven that is good as it going to get with a Receiver

Default Need Suggestions for Yamaha RXA-3000

Ah fair enough, I really do like the Yamaha RXA-3000 . I would prefer to spend a extra in those areas. Well I'm certainly no audiophile or anything, but when I listened to Yamaha RXA-3000 at my friends home , I found the tweeters way to bright and brittle sounding, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated about Yamaha RXA-3000 and the stores where to find this exciting product in best prices.

I think you looked at the wrong numbers or something because HERE are the test results of the SC-57 and it outputs 110watts/channel at 8ohms with .1% distortion and 124watts/channel at 8ohms with 1% distortion with all channels driven.

If you are getting any brightness out of the A3000 then I would guess that its more likely the speakers. The recent lines of Yamaha are fairly warm and very smooth at the top-end. What speakers are you using?

I have been running the RX-A2000 for a year now and would say that the receiver has a very natural sound overall. This issue sounds like the spekaers placement and that some additional room treatments would take away the brightness.

The only problem with the reciever is the remote and that my husband says it dosen't work (works better when he finds his reading glasses but not always.)

I wouldn't overly worry about all speakers driven specks on the Yamahas RX-A range, 7 spekears at 86db in a 140 sq feet is a lot of sound! Your ears would be ringing for a few weeks! I know, I have tried but only when I am outside of the house.

Went to my local BB today and another high end dealer nearby and looked at the Elite's. I am still leaning towards the Integra 40.3. Lots of great features and I really like the look of it. I may give it a whirl. Everyone that has the Integra's seem to really love them. Just need to sell my Elite VSX-32.

The onkyo series uses the hqvida chip and the marvel qdeo chips. Might be something to consider??

I purchased the RX-A3000 about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it! I agree with lojack1976...if the sound is bright then it's either the speakers or some very off eq. The Yamaha is one of the most neutral, warm sounding receivers I've ever heard.

Keep your eye on http://www.newegg.com if you want to purchase one...I got mine brand new shipped for $999. Unfortunately it's back up to $1599.99 right now but they have a $600 off discount code that comes and goes, just keep looking! Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone for your input and advice. I picked up the Integra 40.3 today. Will hook it up over the weekend or during the beginning of next week. I also bought a few pairs of banana plugs from monoprice. I heard they are really good. Thanks again everyone!
