Let's take Mimic for example, Alliance released their own version about two years ago. However, once Lionsgate released a version in the US Alliance simply re-released Mimic in Canada. The newer release is the exact same disc as the Lionsgate release in the US sans slightly modified cover art, etc.

Alliance doesn't always update their former releases when a new one comes out in the US, so it's still unwise to assume they're always the same as the US release, when buying.
