I just watched "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" I see it comes out on Feb. 5th
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B0010V60XE I thought it was an amazing movie that really did not get as much promotion as it should have. Easily one of the best movies in a long time, how many people plan on buying this BD? Or have you even heard of it? I never heard of it until the other day during the Acadamy Award nominations. Why blind buy? It'll be better to rent it first that way you won't spend that much money on a film you might dislike. Just think about it this way, you blind buy it, you end up not liking the movie, and you sell it for less than what you bought it for

I'm definately picking this up. I thought it was one of the best movies of last year. Beware it might not be everyone's cup of tea, because it's nearly 3hrs long and not a whole lot actually happens. I'm not trying to put anyone off it, but just trying to give people an idea of what type of movie it is.

I really want this title too so it will be a blind buy. I have patience for great movies so I'll not be swayed by those who were bored. Can those of you who've seen it give me some comparisons of other films this might be like?

If I buy it and don't like it, I sell it for anywhere between 15-25 (I overcharge for shipping and I would feel bad about it if everyone on eBay didnt do it). So basically if I buy it, dont like it, and sell it I lose roughly 16.98 (If I rent it first and decide not to buy it than i lose 6.99). Considering the FACT that most of the movies (like 90%) I take an interest in I end up liking, I would lose more money renting first. Renting for me is something to do when your 90% sure u dont wanna own the movie. PS: I work for a Hollywood Video that does not rent Blus though I could get the DVDs for free, but who wants to watch DVDs. |

I'll be picking it up as well. This film will prob win the oscar for best cinematography. Roger Deakins. He shot other films like Shawshank and No Country (and for that matter pretty much every coen bro film out there). In Assassination almost every frame could have been used as a still photograph. The film was just beautiful. Will look amazing on your screen. The story however-the drug out the ending a little bit longer than they needed to. The film spent almost a year in recut hell. Over all-something different-and beautiful. If you like westerns of any sort-or enjoy a nice drama-pick it up. You'll love it.

Blind buying is the way to go and heres why:
I blind buy a lot of blu-rays espically when there are bogos and sales ect and if I dont like the movie or think Ill ever watch it again it goes up on ebay and I always get %90 of my money back and somtimes I end up getting more money than I paid for it in the first place because I get most of my blus on sale which I learned about at this site. So when you blind buy and you use ebay this is the way to go and it ususally ends up being cheaper than the rental fee for the ones you end up selling. Not only that but blind buying is helping the sales figures so its a win win. Btw to get the most money back selling your blus make sure you keep them in mint shape as well as the case which Im sure most of you guys do ![]() |

I would compare it to Dances with Wolves or maybe a little like Gangs of New York. It is a long movie and has a narrator, There is not as much action as you would find in other western's but I never found a point where I was bored with it. I watched the movie knowing nothing about it or never hearing about it other than the fact Casey Affleck was nominated for an Oscar and it was nominated for best cinematography (both of wich I think should win). It is more of a story of Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), who is fascinated by Jesse James and has the oppertunity to ride with him. So don't expect to see the James gang robbing banks all through the movie. |
