Not me. No way.

I want to see what OLED looks like a few years after it's been released though. That'll be something to behold.

Everyone who saw the Sony OLED prototype at CES was blown away. OLED is the future.

It may be, but I still would never buy a first gen display of any kind. I usually never buy first gen anything.

I agree 100% with you.

For the first time in display tech industry, this will be the display tech that ACTUALLY EXCEEDS all forms of display technology.

Imagine, the 1G OLED beating a 9G or 10G LCD TV (with LED backlight) on response time alone (<1ms vs. 2 ms)

And in the weight department as well as the power consumption department.

Heck, this was the best display at CES 2007 beating any display that was shown there.

It just sucks that the future is going to cost heaping loads of pocket greens. On a side note, click here for all your OLED-related needs.


So, out of all the current and upcoming ones to be released this year, what would anyone say is the current best DLP HDTV on the market? The future OLED aside, I've always been fond of DLP's and have always thought they've featured some of the best picture quality...at least from what I have seen.

If you're talking about current ones (those for this year) well you have a few choices:

1) Pioneer 8th gen Plasma TVs with 80% improved black levels
2) LCD TVs with 120hz refresh rates
3) DLP TVs that would use LED backlighting.

As for me: I'd pick 2-1-3

RPTV needs another cut in weight and dimensions (still too heavy and its ass still looks huge)

42 inch OLED by 2010? Not sure If I could hold out that long. I need a 50-55 inch,but then again, I don't wanna blow 4-5K on a HDTV only to have OLED come out a year or so later.
