I'm sure there's something better out there. I generally don't mean to incite forum riots (I leave that to SpiderBaby), but I do detest laziness on the internet... and that usually includes people seeking other people's advice on what movies they should check out. There's just so much information available on films these days that I find it difficult that someone can't look up some YouTube trailers/clips or read some reviews, then take all of that absorbed information and apply it to how well he/she knows him/herself in determining if certain films would be appreciated.

I like people that can roll with the punches, and I like antimatter... and, I really appreciate his/her effort for better written grammar.

PS... foreign users aside, an initiation of getting called out for terrible written English isn't nearly as bad as the earlier Salò initiation we used to apply.

Depends on the Fan. I think a lot more people like The Immigrant, the Charlie Chaplin film on Au revoir les enfants more than Killer's Kiss, since everyone is always screaming for a CC Chaplin film.

I tried posting a few well thought out and worded comments on the misuse of the coupons in the B&N Sale thread, but within an hour every one of them was removed by the moderators. Sad that countless bragging posts about how others were able to get away with the misuse were left.

Oh well, even if they did end up getting them for less, at least I'll have the satisfaction of actually enjoying my purchases, unlike scores of those who will undoubtedly leave them sealed forever for freshness and just bought because they felt they were getting something cheaper than they should have been able to.

CC, as usual, an expert orator. But you have to admit, the inherent laziness on the internet is what makes people dream up even more lazy applications.

BTW (see that is lazy), I think Canada should be deemed region D, as they are that special....

I love The Immigrant as well. Still have to watch Ins blaue hinein short though.

I know how you feel. I'm happy with what I purchased, and don't care about the price. I'm only concerned that B&N could stop doing these sales altogether because some people are abusing the system.

Yesterday a thread was locked under the North American board by a moderator because people were saying slipcovers were foolish, and they couldn't fathom why people bought so many copies of one movie. Yet, the misuse of coupons, which goes against the board's rules, and the nastiness towards a lot of members continues to be ignored in the B&N thread. I'll probably get into a lot of trouble for saying all that, but I'm honestly confused by that.

Oh yes, with our "inferior" releases that have French on the slipcovers.

To stop being so negative, I'll change the subject:

Only a little over a week before 12 Angry Men comes out, anyone else excited? Oh yea, Rushmore comes out too doesn't it? Any Rushmore fans eager about that?
I'm very excited for 12 Angry Men. I remember watching it in high school. One of the very few criterions I've actually seen before buying. Also looking forward to seeing Rushmore for the first time.

I can't help reading that line without hearing the voice of that kid from the Twilight Zone episode. "Its off to the corn field with you!"

Watched Carlos over the weekend. Magnificent performances all around. Édgar Ramírez especially. Also IMO Nora von Waldstätten is a amazing looking women! There was a lot to take in on my first viewing. I think I'll have to watch it again to absorb it all.

After watching the special features little details in the film that seemed like just minor details actually had a lot more meaning and truly shows how much research went into the script. Knowing some of these things will greatly add to the second viewing. At first, even though I liked the film, a lot of the film seemed to repeat itself. This is mostly due to jumping from location to location and having a lot of similar moments with the characters. I got that feeling a few times, but again I think this was just because there was so much to take in. I'm sure on my second viewing that will not be the case. I will notice more of the subtleties thrown into the characters on top of the minor details that have deeper meanings.

Highly recommended.

I always watch it when it comes on TCM, unless I'm at work or it's really late. I love Henry Fonda's movies. Also, Quincy's MD, aka Jack Klugman's in it. Yes, I know he played TV Oscar in The Odd Couple, but I watched Quincy reruns on A&E before I watched The Odd Couple reruns on TVLand (back when I had the US version, and they actually showed quality, classic, sitcoms).

Orator? I'm no public speaker by any means.
Oral? I've been oral publicly a few times.

I can agree with this. Other than the Ginger Snaps Collector's Edition DVD released in 2001, I don't think there's a reason for anyone outside of Canada to be buying physical media (i.e. blu-rays, DVDs, CDs) from Canada, correct?

You're forgetting the steelbook fanatics and slipcover fanatics who treat BDs like Pokemon. They should be allowed to buy from Canada.

Also, this board would be dead if there weren't topics going on about the Canadian releases that ruin covers because they have French on them.

Yes, I know CF does their own but I think ours would be cool. Please post any question suggestions, too.

You could write a book about OCD using only these forums as your data set.

Anyway, I limited myself to three purchases with this sale:

- The Killing
- Fanny and Alexander
- The Red Balloon (which is only on DVD but fantastic nonetheless, and I'd never seen it before, not that I've seen either of my other two purchases).

Rich, IMO (see lazy again) CG/SB has soften up a little these days. CC still has that sting.

It may not be an entirely additional film...... but I find it hard to beat the commentary tracks available with Night of the Hunter...... just wonderful really.

No problem, Beta. Not only do you explicitly state in your signature that you're an "Excessive Compulsive Ellipses Abuser" but you also carry mod privileges.
