This time around it's a bigger budget.. I am hoping for a good story.

I was a big fan of TNG and early Voyager.

I haven’t seen all of Voyager yet but from what I have seen of all the others, with the exception of the Original Series they all take about 2 1/2 to 3 seasons to really get "Good". Allow time for the characters to "gel" and for you to get to know who they are really.

This held true for TNG, DS9, Ent and I'm guessing Voy will be the same (just started season 2)

BTW: DS9 would probably be my Fav.

After Enterprise Bragga said Star Trek needed to go bye-bye; I think, actually he needed to. First, Kirk, then Trip.

A lot of folks are hoping this will re-invigorate Star Trek which has really been an inspiration to many - but recently, a disappointment. I really want to see this and the other movies on Blu-ray.

Enterprise TV series was really off from canon. I think someone has the continuity problems it created listed.

What about Capt. Robert April, who was first to command the Enterprise?

I agree. I want to see all the other Trek films on Blu as well... in fact, a box set would be nice.

However, given how much Paramount *charges* for their SD box sets and TV series (mercifully they've finally been coming down in recent months/weeks), I cringe at the thought of how much they're going to charge for Blu box sets of the ST movies and TV series.

True, that's the main reason I haven't bought any of the TV seasons on any format yet....

Weird. Another ST movie? I thought the last last last one was the last one. Lol. I like ST but not a "trekie" and not enough to get excited about a movie that is nearly a year and a half away from even seeing blu if it's released.

Whats this latest movie about now?

It takes place just before The Original Series. When Spock and Kirk and Company were all just starting out as Enterprise crewmembers.

There's quite a cast that's been assembled. However, it kinda reminds me of Enterprise, the TV series, which I'm currently watching on SD.

Actually this would have to be a decade or so before

Because there were 2 other captains of the Enterprise, Robert April and Christopher Pike before Kirk, and you don't make Captain overnight.

Actually they're going to have to either outright ignore what's already out there (canon) or set it right when Kirk takes over the Enterprise from Pike because Kirk served on the Republic and Farragut before becoming captain.

<- Trek geek

edit - and as Mystik said, Paramount will be blu LONG before this movie is released on home video.
