Disney Finding Nemo (2003) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free]

Thought this might deserve it's own thread
I don't speak a word of German, so I'm not sure where the info comes from but seems legit to me... I believe it's been discussed around here as well but can't remember where... Anyways, here the LINK

finding nemo hits theaters september 14th so i would think the 3d blu-ray release would come shortly after that. but who knows, beauty and the beast 3d blu-ray is already out and that hits theaters january 13th. i guess it's possible we get the 3d blu-ray before then.

Quote:
Up first, "Beauty and the Beast" unspools on Jan. 13, followed by "Finding Nemo" on Sept. 14. The 2013 pair, "Monsters, Inc." and "The Little Mermaid," will bow on Jan. 18 and June 21, respectively.

Thats only because stupid Rich Ross, yanked the 3D rerelease from its originaly scheduled play date last year, and its rescheduled one for valentines day this year caliming there was no audience for it. It had a sold out 2 week limited engagement at Disney's El Capitan at the begining of September.(every show time the entire run filled to the theatres 800 seat capacity)

Yeah but I think after seeing the grosses The Lion King made I think Disney is kicking themselves over that decision. I don't think we will see it happen again. My prediction is a Up 3D for the Spring and Finding Nemo 3D day to date with Brave's Blu-Ray 3D release in the fall.

re-rendering toy story took six months so re-rendering nemo might take time

Disney/Pixar's 'Up' is to be released here in the UK on the 9th of January 2012. I know this as a fact as it's four days after my birthday. John.

So they are releasing it because it's your birthday? Wow, I wish I had a major studio do those things for me!

That was for both Toy Story movies together. Finding Nemo alone will probably take less then that. For example the conversion of The Lion King took only only 4 months and that was certainly more expensive as it was converted rather then simply re-rendered.

this article says adding 3-D to each of the films took six months per film

It seems strange it took so long. Especially when reports indicate that Pixar's modern render farms can render in real time what took an hour on Pixar's first render farms. Its possible it only took that long because Pixar's artists were divided between the re-render and working on new Pixar projects.

Finding Nemo is alot more visually complex then the first two Toy Story movies so it should require more work

There were probably fewer people and fewer servers because the task was so easy and because Pixar was busy with Toy Story 3 which is extremely detailed and well animated and was incredibly hyped up.

Even if it takes six or more months for Finding Nemo, Pixar could've started work on that months ago. I think it's likely that it'll be released sometime before Brave's theatrical release or its BD release.
Disney has already advertised Nemo, so I think a 3D release isn't going to be too far away from the 2D BD. It'd be a bad idea to release a 3D not day-to-date with the 2D. Few people would double dip after 3-6 months, JUST for 3D.

Thats my guess as well. I highly doubt if Pixar stopped production on Brave and Monsters University they could probably have there entire catalog re-rendered in a couple months but most of Pixar's resources are invested in creating new movies and 3D re-renderings of catalogs will probably trickle out slowly. Not to mention Disney is not going to want to saturate the market. Up was rumored for release this year but was delayed probably because they didn't want to saturate the 3D market and thus are most likely holding up for the Spring

Still 3D re-releases gives Disney an opportunity to sell people who already bought the Blu-Ray a reason to double dip. So I expect to see Pixar's entire catalog re-rendered and released on Blu-Ray 3D over the next 3 years or so
