my YLOD 60 still has my NBA2k10 in it. We really need that little hole that you can put the paperclip in it that they have with tray drives. Or at least a manual crank or something to push out a disc in a slot loader if you pop the case.

Just FYI guys, I tried the hair dryer trick (saw it work on YouTube) did NOT work for me. Also tried the fan test or whatever they called it as well where you turn the power off in the back then hold the eject button when you flip it back on... YLOD prevails. Original 60 GB model (upgraded 7200 rpm 200 GB drive). Can't get a game out and can't transfer the data to my new 320 GB slim model (upgraded 5400 RPM 1 TB drive).

I had this happen to me a couple weeks ago with a disk stuck inside. I did my own hairdryer trick, instead of blowing hot air then cooling, i only did it with cool air for about 5 minutes. Worked long enough to eject the disk. Maybe try blowing cool air in while you turn it on?

Sorry if this is the wrong place.
Question: Do you need to be connected to the internet to watch Blu Rays on PS3? My uncle has recently purchased a PS3 Slim. He was unable to get any Blu Rays to play at his place where he doesnt have the internet. He took it around mine an i updated his firmware for him. The disks played fine at mine. When he took it home it still wouldnt play his disks. Any ideas why? Thanks |

If you have a disc stuck in the machine, you indicate so during the process, and they will return it to you. Also, if you have replaced your hard drive with a larger one, remove the large drive and return it with the original drive. The original hard drive must be included in order for Sony to swap the PS3. Sony's customer service was really great during the exchange process, and from start to finish it took approximately two weeks. I replaced the 160 GB drive with my 320 GB drive, so I am back up an running now. Unfortunately, if you haven't backed up your hard drive, you lose the data, because it will reformat. At least your trophies are saved on PS Network though. I would recommend going through Sony to have your unit repaired or replaced. My new one comes with a one-year warranty, and I can extend that if I want to with the Sony extended plan. Good luck. |

Alright, writing the response above about the PS3 replacement process through Sony made me think of an issue I don't know how to resolve with my replacement.
I exchanged my YLOD PS3 for a replacement slim, but apparently my user ID is still linked to the dead PS3 for video. Until I fix this and link my new PS3 to my ID, I cannot play videos from the PSN video section. Game videos, Netflix, Blu-ray, and other applications work fine, but I cannot play anything from the video section of PSN. Each PSN account ID is limited to being associated with just 1 PS3 for downloadable video playback from the Playstation Store. Does anyone know how to fix this? The error message refers me to the online manual, but I can't find anything in it on this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

The consoles may not be modified in any way, they can't show evidence of abuse or tampering, and the original factory-issued hard drive must be returned with the console. You can visit Sony's PS3 support page or call them to get more details or start the claim process. If you want to exchange an eligible console, I suggest you call the 800 number. The only option shown on the website is repair for $99. |

Question Bump
Does anyone know how to remove a dead PS3 from being the authorized video player on a PSN account? I have a new PS3, but I can't play any videos on it from the PS Network store. The error message says only 1 PS3 may be used for video playback, but my registered machine is dead. |

Ok 4th time fixing the yellow light of dread, that went like always-annoying but no problem....now there's a new monster
![]() When I plug the ribbon cable from the blu-ray drive to the MB connector, it shuts all power down on my PS3, no red power light nothing. If I reverse the cable there's power but I am unable to play any games either from the HD or BRD & all discs (br or dvd) don't show up in the XMB. Nor does it matter if the power connector is plugged in or not. I can't play any games from the HD with or without the BRD present. (I have read that there is some kind of "security" feature that won't allow games to play from the HD without "authorization" from the BRD, is this true?) Anyhow, the little blinking orange light that tells you the console's thinking starts, then a series of flashing grey to black blank screens happens, the orange light stops & then nothing, I have to shut it down from the console itself because the controller doesn't seem to have functionality at this point. (nor is there anything but a blank screen) Is there a fuse or trip that might have blown? Because I can watch anything streaming from the net no problem, would I still be able to if it was a blown graphics chip? I don't know how to test the connection on the MB to see if something is whacked there, but everything I do know how to test has continuity. And though the cable is like an IDE/SATA, it isn't ...is there anywhere to get a replacement in Canada here? I have the 40GB Fat model with the CECHG01 MB, if that makes any difference...& sorry for such a long post, I just don't know what to do. I'm just wondering if maybe somebody has seen something like this before---I'm sure you know how gamers are without their consoles, like fish out of water hehehe! It's Nerve-Wracking ![]() Thanks so much for reading & any help, please have a great day |

I have 2 PS3s. The one in my bedroom is on wireless. It's a 160gb slim. No issues at all until today. Now I'm suddenly getting a DLNA 7531 error message. I also have a Panasonic player in the same room on wireless and it has no problems staying connected.
The PS3 is on firmware 3.72. |

i have a ps3 slim CECH_2001A and its not on warrenty so, i took it apart to clean the lens(freezing, skipping) but when i put everything back together and put a disc in it made a weird noise like the disc was stuck. I take it apart to make sure i put it together correctly, put it back together and now the disc drive wont take the disc and also i noticed the blu ray light doesnt come on anymore. Also when i try and play a demo it loads but right away stuck on a black screen. I want to know if i purchase a new blu ray drive will everything turn out fine or should i get a new ps3.... long question lol hope yous can give some good answers

I had bought the replacement laser and did everything spec.
Then the damn thing stoped taking the disks, I quit. traded all of my games for more 360. *both 360 & ps3 had failed within a year of purchase, but only micro$oft covered it for free (shipping & labour). Paid $35. for the ps3 blu laser on ebay and now it sits in peices under my couch. It'll take more than luck, roll the dice. |
