Your pinky is your weakest finger, so it's best not to make it do all the hard work.

I generally play through expert with my hand rooted on the red fret (RYBO position), and slide my hand down for green notes (GRYB position). If you're playing on hard, there's probably not a lot of orange, so you can probably play in GRYB position most of the time.

A tip for the future... if you need to slide to hit a streak that goes from green to orange (or vice versa), do the sliding with your index finger, not your pinky.
