Higher standards for receptacles maybe. You don't seem at all concerned about A/V quality.

I don't see the Blu's as such an uplift from those DVD's (on an upscaler) compared to the jump DVD looked when they were released. Not for £70 or even £35

Like I said, with what is available to Lucas etc, the fanbase and the fact that lower budget movies from that era with less money thrown at them, look 10 times better. I expected MUCH more. And then there is the box... nothing special, not even a choice to buy a tin set or something limited etc. Bland and Ugly
Right, OK.

Still satisfied with shitty lossy dolby digital sound too then ??

How so? I've mentioned the poor PQ in my first post, from what I've seen. HMV may not have a £5k system to show off, but they play other releases and they look mint in comparison. When comparing to other movies, released on blu, older or from around the same time - with a heck of a lot less money spent on them. It was the PQ, I was comparing. "Looked like it was made this year"
Is a few extra bangs and Vader shouting NOooo!! a few extra times really all these years spent working on it and us waiting for it. Is that it?

Yes I think the packaging is crap, but when I'm comparing to JP or BTTF tin releases it is more the fact that these movies, which I would guess have a lesser fan base, had a wonderful release.
They had options. I bought the JP ultimate box set, not the tin and not the one with the toy or a wooden box import.
It is not the packaging, it is the care, the option to buy a tin with extras, a limited special edition etc. This is Star Wars. Shouldn't this be the release you get your mates round, who think Blu Ray is not worth it, or cannot see the difference etc and say 'Watch this'

Its all about the movies for me. I have all Star Wars on DVD and also the theatrical limited editions. I love these (I still have a box in the loft with the original figures, complete with their weapons, in near mint condition) I am a fan.

I was waiting for these to be released, just as I am with Jaws and Indiana Jones and the rest of the Bond movies. I am hoping for somethig special when they are released. Something that makes me glad I am picking up the Blu and not the guy next to me in the que with the DVD.

Sorry I don't feel the same as you, I guess I'm just gutted. I was waiting for these, saved a little bit each month to not notice the £70 on release. Hunted around sites for what it'll look like, what extras is it a limited number release etc. ..... It just doesn't rock my world at all, to the point that I really dislike it and hope for another release which is more fitting. IMO these are the biggest movies of all time. This was not the great issue that was built up.

Was that shitty and lossy? when you first upgraded from your VHS copies to DVD.

So it sounds better on Blu... I also watch the film.

I've said I've seen enough to not think its great. You seem to be a big fan, going by your name and picture.

Is this what you were waiting for, has this release wowed you like when you bought DVD (compared to VHS)

Has this really satisfied your wait for SW on Blu? Had you not hoped for something better then what came out?

I'm not sure how anybody can say that a NINE disc set including 6 films (at least 4 of which have been praised repeatedly for PQ and AQ, especially regarding things like correction of colour timing errors and mistakes in the initial DTS field) and over 50 hours of bonus content is not worth £7.75 a disc

It wasn't clear at all, I honestly thought you were asking for a mark out of ten. I'd hope from my reply you'd see I wasn't being entirely serious but there we go - we've both learned something today about the difficulty in converying tone on an internet forum.

This arguing is not getting anybody anywhere. I am more than satisfied with my copy, and would never sell it, sure there are ups and downs, but it goes without saying really. Just IMO, the PQ on the OT exceeds the PT quality simply because the PT (as a whole, ROTS was the best looking no doubt) could and should have looked better, however, that is not to say it was in anyway bad at all, again, AotC and RotS made up for it. IMO, the OT will not nor will it ever "look like it was made this year" by any stretch of the imagination, but that's the beauty of it. They're amazing films, and awesome quality IMO, totally worth it. Feel free to disagree, but that's just my two pence.

But I've read enough where people are not happy with the tweeks, customers who bought this set.

I believe customer reviews over any magazine or site review where they received a free copy and if they would like further from that studio, better push this one.

I have read a lot where people who paid £7.75 a disc were not that amazed. There seem to be enough of those.

True.
Happy to move on as well. I enjoy movies, collecting and discussing. I'm not here to make enemies etc.

I think everyone just assumed it was gonna be the best release on the format, apart from the silly changes, yes i'm more than happy with this release.

Revenge Of The Sith is a great demo disc to show off to any doubters, Sound quality on every film is pure demo also.

I'm a massive Star Wars fan, spent thousands on collectibles like master replics blasters and statue's etc over the years and this release topped if off nicely for me.

Fair points. I'm chuffed you and others are enjoying this Blu. Kinda wish I could as well, I built up a super amazing set on release I wasn't happy with what was only on offer.

I guess I wanted more choice and expect something awesome.

Oh, ok cool. This is the first time I've read someone say that. I think you are a bigger SW fan than myself, so if its good enough for you....

I'm going to see if another set is in the offing for the near future (i.e next year) Or I may just go for this set in the end...... In a sale though

Im not big on Harry Potter, but its the same with those releases. The Box set or a limited number set. Already announced is a new super deluxe set next year

I hope for something similar for these, which deserve it.

Yeah. I did expect a little bit more, and I also would've liked special packaging, because it is Star Wars after all, but I guess I'm content.

Nope. But depending on where you're posting it to it would be less than a fiver (definitively less than a tenner). If you're returning it to Amazon you can print out a prepaid label to stick on the front.

If you still have the packaging it may have it printed on the front (it does with some Amazon packages).

1 thing that I was disappointed with was that the special features never included all the previously released deleted scenes. Yes, I have the other releases on DVD with them but the blu-ray only adds to them. It would have been nice to have all of them together. Not a big deal but it's just one wee thing that wouldn't have hurt to include

I haven't really followed this release all that closely, so I was wondering if someone could please confirm if the UK 9 BD set includes all the special features, and the same content, as the US set?

thanks

I think they're identical apart from the packaging.
