Large collections are an addiction. Just because you justify it, doesn't change much. People on here are enabling each other to continue this addiction.

I wish you the best. I hope you can get past this addiction and get to a normal level of purchasing.

Lord of the Rings is worth the purchase. Just not with 1,000 other movies.
I think your comments are pretty judgmental.

Blu-ray.com is a hate free zone.

LOL, so buying LOTOR is worth it. just now the OTHER movies wow, this is just funny. a movie collection means we have addiction and mental issues , Well, I'm so glad we have you hear to tell us what is or is not good to do and keep us on the path towards good mental health. so if I get rid of my movie collection I'll be ok?? (just not LOTOR??)

hell, I know people who eat out more often than I pick up a movie (one of the most wasteful things you can do IMO) but they wanna spend their money on that it's their issue.

I don't regret spending money on my collection at all. DVDs will still be relevant for years anyways. As will blu of course.

Lucky! The Extended versions are a real eye opener, especially for the last one which changes a "WTF!" moment

What dream world are you living in? /b/ and Fark are much friendlier than this place if someone makes a comment that's different than the pack mentality this forum seems to hold on certain issues. I really appreciate being told to go to hell and being called a Nazi, among other things, because I disagree with someone. That's just so loving now isn't it?

Thankyou does have a bit of a point, a lot of the threads are more about the packaging, price of a film, and how many BDs you buy, than on the actual quality of the film and/or BD presentation itself.

For the record, I own this set, and think it's a great addition to anyone's collection that enjoys the films. There's no issue with the tint, and it's one of the best presentations I've seen of the films.

Nope, it's never been addressed or mentioned. So no new news on that front...

So came in here because of the lower price (that I may have miss already?) and what do I see, arguments about something other than the movie got to love Blu-ray.com.

I think people can buy pretty much what they want as long as they don't ask me to pay for it Want to own 1000+ Blu-ray movies? Knock yourself out

Do I regret my large DVD collection that is by now slowly turning useless? Nope, not really! No one ever put a gun on my head forcing me to buy all these movies, did it of my own free will. I think you feel regret only when you purchase things in order to follow the crowd and look cool, otherwise you probably enjoy what you buy.

Is this forum mostly about what people purchase, slipcovers, steelbooks, deals....yes it is, mostly! Reason being that whenever someone try to bring the subject of movies and what they like or dislike, you have others bouncing on them like a bunch of Hyenas going for the kill because you like or dislike something they like or dislike. Look at this thread here, not even talking about a movie and insults are flying left in right!

Ordered and wonder if I should sell the EE DVDs... or even the TC Blus

I know the TC Blus can't have much re-sell value when there are places that have them for $8 new. So,... I guess I don't have to wonder about that.

I wish I knew someone who wanted the EE DVDs. The set is so nice and I would hate to sell it for $9 or something.

I guess I could/should keep it but I can't imagine why to much plus it has 16 DVDs that are repeated in the Blu version... eek.

Does that include S/H, and if not you'll be paying the same price that Amazon is charging, which is $49.00.

It's free shipping over 25 bucks. Also depends on which province they live in, as some only have 5% sales tax, other have 15%.

If you've ordered the EE Blu-rays, it wouldn't make sense to keep the DVDs, or the Theatrical Versions. You're not going to get the same price when you've bought them new, so if you decide to resell them you'll have to take a loss. Or you can give them away to a family member, or a friend who were less fortunate to buy it.

Ultimately, I would like to give them away but to someone I know and someone who may watch them.

That would work for me.

I tend to give my re-bought movies to my step dad but I don't think he ever watches them. He's into his DVR mostly.

It's such a nice kit, it would make a sweet gift.... It's just hard to imagine who would want it that doesn't already have it.

Trade in value $8... no way... it's too nice (even if it's DVDs... yuk.) I think I just have to keep it.

What WTF moment are you guys talking about? It's been a while since I've made it through the entire extended ROTK.

I really wanted the E.E of Lord of the Rings Trilogy, even at $50, and as much as I like the giftset, I cannot even bring myself to pay $30 because of the green tint issue. At first, I blew it off as just a very minor issue that "some" people will notice, but recently looking at screen shot comparisons, I find this unacceptable. It's a shame that such a great Trilogy is ruined by a poor color palate in the studio, and still no word from Peter Jackson himself if this was intentional or accidental.

I had been worrying about the green tint issue for a while which is why I waited so long in getting the set. When I finally watched it though, it's really not that much of a bother unless you're thinking about it all the time. Had I never found out about it, I would never have noticed.

Right on man!!!

I have respect for other posters regardless if they have 2 movies in their collection or 10,000. Beats the people out there spending money on MUCH worse things. Let people buy what they want.

BTW, these green tint issues really shock me and I haven't seen the BDs yet. I'm also in the same boat as those that are surprised that we haven't heard from WB/Jackson on this yet.
