The NFL will announce by tomorrow what the week 13 Sunday night game is (replacing Pats-Colts). I'm expecting they'll choose Lions-Saints. I think Texans-Falcons would have gotten some serious consideration but don't think NBC would want that game without seeing how Leinart does in his first start. Bengals-Steelers could have a chance at getting chosen because of how well the Steelers do in the TV ratings but I think the Bengals losing their last 2 will get it bypassed, plus the Steelers are on Sunday night in week 12 and can't see the same team on Sunday night in back-to-back weeks.

Still Fuming Over two OBVIOUS fouls That werent Called in the Bengals ravens Game.

1. Really? That Isnt a touchdown? When a running back runs the ball in and sticks his hand out and then loses the ball after he breaks the plane its a touchdown, so why isnt this catch a touchdown? Disgusting.

2. On that Play where Dalton threw the intentional grounding, he was CLEARLY Horsecollared?? Do they not call penalty's anymore in the last minute of the game? I can't believe they called Intentional grounding but didnt observe the obvious horsecollar?? Disgusting.

For us not to have Our Top Corner, and Top Wr In that game and basically all of the pittsburgh game im Pleased with our play. Wait till we get shipley and draft another CB in the draft which im pretty sure we will and Maybe a OL that can block for atleast 4 seconds GEEEEEZ!!!

There is no horse collar on the QB (unless he passes scrimmage and becomes a runner). They say it all the time.

If he loses control, it's not a touchdown. A running back has been acknowledged as having full control of the ball before breaking the plane. A receiver has not had full possession yet. Pretty straightforward to me.

Yeah I recall the announcers once actually saying they'd prefer that rather than a helmet to helmet or knee shot.

Upon further review by me, it's the right call but a crap rule joining the ranks of such dumb rules such as the Tuck rule.

I missed that game yesterday. If you can find a you tube video of your number 1, I'd like to see it. Granted, I wanted the Ravens to win, so the outcome did not bother me.

I really wish they would call the receiver one the "Megatron Rule", due to it gaining so much interest after last season vs CHI.

Here's Pro Football Talk's analysis of the call, and how the NFL cannot figure out what is and what is not a catch:

Quote:
It had been five weeks since the last time the Calvin Johnson rule reared its head in a game situation. On Sunday, the Bengals lost a touchdown pass to Jermaine Gresham via the application of a rule that routinely defies with the expectations of the reasonable fan.

Gresham bobbled the ball near the end zone, got possession of it in the vicinity of the goal line, took two steps, fell to the ground with the ball in one hand, and lost the ball when the hand holding it struck the ground.

This year, the league has emphasized the element of time, treating such plays as valid receptions if the receiver who, while going to the ground, had enough time to make a football move, regardless of whether a football move was actually made. And that seems to be what Gresham did. Or at least could have done.

Perhaps more importantly, the fact the officials in real-time called it a catch (and thus a touchdown) would require conclusive 100-drunks-in-a-bar evidence to overturn the play. With the question of whether Gresham had enough time to make a football move a topic that strays into the realm of professional judgment, referee Ron Winter should have deferred to the ruling on the field that Gresham had possession long enough to make a football move.

The outcome reconfirms that the league needs to clean up the rule book once and for all regarding what is and what isn’t a catch when a receiver hits the ground. The “football move” exception is a twist on the uncodified “second act” rule, which allowed the requirement of maintaining possession through the ground to be disregarded when the receiver manages to break the plane of the goal line while falling.

The NFL needs to just start over, crafting a simple rule that the officials can consistently apply — and that meshes with what a reasonable person would regard to be a catch, or not a catch.

The rule plainly needs to be the same as the fumble rule, the ground cannot cause a fumble and the player must maintain possession of the ball through the process of going to the ground.

+ broncos/vikings moves to 1:00 & will actually be on FOX not CBS.

has something to do with CBS being maxed out on production capacity by now getting colts/pats back + college basketball game + SEC champ game.

oh & browns/ravens moves to 4:05.

Why would they want to replace the Colts run at perfection with another game? It would be funny if the Colts won their only game of the year against the Pats. Ya, won't happen though.

I think the Colts' run at perfection has a good chance of ending against Jacksonville, provided they can figure out how to contain the human bowling ball, MJD.

-If Carson Palmer keeps it up that trade will be absolutely justified. All draft picks are gambles. Oakland fans shouldn't feel too bad about losing the 23rd or 24th pick if he takes them to the playoffs. You can't put a price tag on having an actual leader. I'm impressed.

-Niners vs Ravens is going to be terrific

They lost handily to the Jags at home already. What makes you think they can win @ Jacksonville? Colts last chance to win is against Carolina IMO.

Colts run D is garbage, they will stay perfect

MJD just had a 114 yard game against them 2 weeks ago

the best part is where the dumb redskins fan thinks he'll get the ball and Witten throws it over him
