Is the Niners really an upset now? They are 9-1 right behind the Pack and lost in OT so it's not even that bad of a loss. I really think with Harbaugh and the way things are going the 49ers will have their division locked for a good 4-5 years before AZ/STL/SEA catch up.

Well first of all, the Texans have one of the best records in the league, I believe they're 8-2. So it would be a long shot for them to get him, he will most likely go to one of the 20+ teams ahead of them in the waiver order.

Like a lions fan wouldn’t do the same if Rodgers went down w/another concussion.

Very true, but that was to the Panthers.

Like I said a couple of days ago, I think the game is going to come down to their def. line and our off. line.

John Clayton says Kyle Orton has put the word out that he might not report to the Chiefs if they claim him. This is likely just a move to try to discourage the Chiefs from claiming him because he has no say in the matter. If he refused to report to the Chiefs (or any other team that might claim him) he would forfeit the remainder of his salary and might not be a free agent after the season. Per the link:

And if within five days after getting the letter he still doesn’t arrive, the Chiefs can put him on the reserve/left squad list, which would shut Orton down for the rest of the year.

The biggest question is whether his contract would toll. Though players must show up by Week 10 to get credit for a contract year, the rules are a little fuzzier when it comes to guys who walk out in lieu of holding out.

I trust Clayton about as much as I trust my co-workers and none of them really know a lot about football. Schefter is really the one ESPN expert that I actually trust and listen to.
