I'd go see LOTR in 3D and Im' not a fan of post-conversion. But like Star Wars, I'm sure they'll do good. So long as they don't remove grain to get there.

[Show spoiler]I believe Frodo is in The Hobbit because he is reading Bilbo's book, which is "The Hobbit". I read that he is book-ending the movie. Openning with Frodo reading the book, and ending with it as well. It would be cool if the end of the 2nd part of The Hobbit had Frodo finishing the book and then it runs into a scene from the beginning of The Fellowship. Just my $0.02 though.

[Show spoiler]This is what I think as well. I always heard that they wanted to bridge The Hobbit with LoTR so I fully expected something to connect the two together.

I finally bought the extended versions on blu-ray so I guess I'll see for myself what all this talk about Fellowship of the Ring's blu-ray is about.

But wasn't Bilbo still writing the book during LOTR?

I'd say anything over 100 movies starts to reach that point....
There's no place for common sense here.

Didn't Bilbo give Frodo the book
[Show spoiler]when he was recovering in Rivendell
? I think I read something (on theonering.net, perhaps?) that the scenes with Frodo would take place in Hobbiton, between
[Show spoiler]Frodo's returning from Mordor and his leaving for The Grey Havens.

BB is the most competitive out there and will price match it's competitors and even their online prices. I've done it several times on multiple discs and saved loads of cash. I have the extended versions on dvd and think I'll just hold off until a complete collection comes down the road. I love these movies, but I don't know about double dipping knowing that they'll eventually release all of the films together.

I actually bought the theatrical BDs at Blockbuster in the 5 for $20 sale so you might want to check that out.

The Istari (wizards) were forbidden to match Sauron's power directly, but were sent to assist the people's of Middle Earth in resisting him. So they had great power but kept it hidden most of the time.

As Gandalf the Grey (before he became even more powerful as Gandalf the White) he fought off several Ringwraiths at Weathertop, while he was drawing them away from Aragorn and the Hobbits. Gandalf the Grey also defeated and killed the Balrog in Moria.

As Gandalf the White (when he replaced Saruman as the head of the wizards), he drove off several Ringwraiths who were attacking Faramir as he was retreating to Minas Tirith.

Others here disagree with me, but it is absurd to think that one Ringwraith would defeat Gandalf, even if he was the chief of the Ringwraiths. In the book, the confrontation ended with no fight, because the Witch-King turned and left to fight Rohan which had just arrived. Gandalf was going to go out and fight him but had to save Faramir instead from his insane father.
Gandalf does say, "I'd been sent back until my task is done", implying he's accountable to an even greater power. This is also mirrored in the finale to "Return of the King", when he tells the hobbits, "My time here is finished." Just a theory, but perhaps the Witch King was able to break his staff because Gandalf was being kept in check.
