There is no reason to get excited ...if there not re-doing BB for BD on a 50gb disc IMO.
We'll see. I think you, me, and everyone else will be getting this on day one no matter what and probably be pretty enthusiastic about it.

But yes, I'd like to see it done to take full advantage of what BD can do, for sure.

LOL... I was thinking the same thing. Soft picture or not, I'm still making a purchase.

I will be getting it for the PCM audio....and you know as well as I... that its not really much sharper than the sd dvd upconverted on an Onkyo sp 1000 for instance.

Batman Begins was the ONLY reason I bought into HD DVD. Needless to say I was very dissapointed in the transfer. Despite being a dark film it is extremely soft no matter what Amir and his VC-1 cronies claim. Unless WB's puts a PCM track on this I'll pass.

Really? I'm surprised - every review I've read of BB says that it's one of the best, if not THE best, HD-DVDs available for both picture and sound

Its OK at best. Doesnt hold a candle to the top tier BD's tho.

Batman looked soft in the IMAX presentation I saw. The Samsung demo had sharper edges.

Maybe they are watching it at 4 to 6 Picture Heights and/or on a 720p display. Has enough sharpness for that.

Now try watching the HD DVD at 1.5 to 2 PH with a 1080p projector on a 2.40 wide screen.

Try increasing the sharpness on the player or display controls till you reach a limit of compression noise you can stand. Maybe you'll enjoy watching it a little more that way

A dark and grainy gritty Batman might be better than a soft Batman

I hate WB.... Dog F---ing bast@rds.

Holding these titles hostage. I can see them releasing BB, V, PS, and Troy on their THD before BD.

Sorry for all the abbr

I was under the impression that the Dolby True HD track was HD DVDs version of BDs PCM. considering you cant get true HD on BD, but instead get PCM.

Not true. You can get LPCM, TrueHD and HDMA on both formats.

There are more Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD audio tracks on HD-DVD than on BD. TrueHD on HD-DVD is at 16-bit 48kHz.

There are more LPCM and DTS HDMA audio tracks on BD than on BD. Both tracks are at 48kHz at either 16-bit or 24-bit.

i was at best buy last night and saw a solid 5 min. of Batman Begins on a Pioneer Kuro. i didn't remember the movie much and kept thinking that this had to be Dark Knight, but at the end it said Batman Begins Comming Soon to Blu-ray Disc. The PQ did not look very good.

From what I hear, Batman Begins is one of the few HD-DVD ports that really wouldn't benefit much from a re-encoded version. Yes, there can always be better, and I'm all for that, mind you. But from what I hear, it's one of the reference quality HD-DVD's.

I just want it on BD! Who cares how good the HD-DVD is, the BD will be at least as good if not better. I just hope they release this soon!
