The Dallas Morning News reports Dez Bryant is likely to resume returning punts for the Cowboys.
Current return man Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is expected to be waived Wednesday, necessitating Bryant's return to a role owner Jerry Jones is on the record as not wanting him to fill. Bryant got off to a slow start this season after injuring his quad on a Week 1 return, and broke his leg returning a kick last season. The move won't affect his fantasy value barring injury.

just 2 years ago he set an NFL record 800 yards rushing in November

Amid NFL coaching rumor, Randy Edsall says he remains committed to Maryland
By Eric Prisbell
On Tuesday, Dave Razzano, a sports talk radio host in San Francisco, tweeted that he expects Maryland Coach Randy Edsall to get “strong consideration” for a coaching job with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. Razzano, who was a longtime NFL scout with at least three teams, did not make clear whether he meant the head coaching job or an assistant position, as far as I saw.

Jacksonville owner Wayne Weaver fired Coach Jack Del Rio after a 3-8 start to the season and agreed to sell the team to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan. Edsall was an assistant coach with the Jaguars from 1994 to 1997.

Here is Edsall on Tuesday addressing NFL coaching rumors:

“The only job that I am worried about, and the job that I have got all my heart and soul and attention on, is Maryland,” Edsall told The Post’s Jason Reid on Tuesday. “We are going to do the things necessary to make sure that this program goes where we want it to go.

“And I have never been more encouraged and excited and invigorated than I am right now. We are just trying to continue to get quality student-athletes here to the University of Maryland. We just want to build this program and take it to the heights that we want it as a coaching staff, and that our players want it and our fans want it and, most especially, our university.”

When asked directly if he is committed to Maryland for the long haul, Edsall said, “Absolutely. There is no question about that.”

In his first season at Maryland, Edsall led the Terrapins to a 2-10 record, losing each of the last seven games by double digits.

Look, I'm not telling you to believe this. In fact, I'm telling you not to believe it. But it's just too strange to ignore.

I don't know whether he knows something or not, though I'm guessing he has some sort of connection just based on being in the league for as long as he was.

The Edsall-Jacksonville link, if you're unaware, comes from his time there when the franchise first started back in the mid-90s. He was one of the original guys there, coaching the defensive backs, and supposedly was well-liked. The ownership is still the same as it was (though may not be for much longer), and the current GM was also in Jacksonville when Edsall was. So that part of it makes sense. The whole 2-10 thing? Not so much.

Again: take this with a fair amount of salt. In fact, throw so much salt on it that you don't even know what it is anymore. But it is sort of funny.

You may commence "For linebackers coach/ball boy/*insert here*?" jokes now.

lol I'd advise reading the Comments from people

Oh hell no. I'd rather have kept Del Rio than bring in Edsall. Who would you bring in Edsall if you're selling the team? He'd just devalue the franchise.

They better not bring that guy in. We are looking for a big name coach, and that's what I'm looking forward to.

Don't you know Randy Edsall!?! He blames everyone but himself because he's so awesome and everyone else sucks! Sounds like a blockbuster hire to me

If the Broncos can play well on defense against the Chargers. I think the Jaguars will do even better. I think we are going to pull this out and go on a win streak the last 5 games of the season for Mr. Wayne Weaver!

Jags average 12 points per game and while their defense is strong I think they will lose a close one, Chargers will be desperate for a win. I think this will be the first Thursday night game this season I want to see all of, especially if Philly drops to 4-8. Giants are in a free-fall, don't expect them to give Green Bay that good of a game, they will probably give us fits with their season on the line in week 14 though.

You've lost 8 games, learn to count. When was the last time your team finished the season with a winning record?
