Well, the films themselves are newly done Blu-Ray masters. The next six discs are direct ports of the Appendices from the Extended DVDs, and the last three are standard-def documentaries by someone named Costa Botes. I already had the DVDs, so I wasn't about to pay $80 or more for the films alone. That's why I jumped on Fry's offer last week; $40 is hard to beat for six Blu-Rays.

There are some short funny segments on the blu-rays, if you click on the New Line logo. Each movie has the same two bonus DVDs that came with the EE DVD set, plus the Costa Botes documentaries on the third DVD for each movie.

Oh. The stickers on the Pulp Fiction slipcover did not agree with being removed. So, in the process of removing the sticky goo, the slipcover became scratched. So, I just said "Screw it" and tore it up so I could throw it away adequately. It made for a nice image.

I picked this up from Costco for $39.99 CDN. Not bad for the extended set here in Canada. I watched Fellowship and the color did not bother me at all. With out a doubt the best the movie has ever looked on home video, the detail is amazing.

Just finished watching "The Two Towers" a few minutes ago, and was very impressed. I noticed a lot of things in the darker scenes that I hadn't seen before, and one glaring FX shot from the DVDs (Frodo & Sam's arrival in Faramir's camp) looks infinitely better. These will be getting a lot of repeats on my player, especially after I get an HDTV.
