Shell!!! When can we see the results from all of your polls?? I've been a couple of days behind in the thread and I always see a new poll.

Have you shared the results with us yet? If I missed them, I am sorry!!

Thanks for the polls, however!

I'm keeping RELEASE OF THE YEAR open a little longer as it's biggest one:

Results to be shown soon after.

That is usually the big issue. You look at the dates on the labels of when it came into Custom Canada hands and when they actually release it and it's raher funny. They seem to be doing this mostly on overland order from the USA only? It's a bit weird.

I voted for that one already.

I was talking about the results for all of the previous polls. Will those be shown "soon after"? Or just this current one?

Thanks.

It's only on my B&N stuff too. Amazon seems to be safe because they think it's from the Canadian store.

Yeah, I sit 8' away from a 67" screen, so no complaints here

I would definitely not enjoy it half as much without the wide angle viewing area.

What if I mix them back in with non-Criterion released movies (which would then be needles in a haystack of a much larger world of cinema) how would you tell them apart? I just don't understand how one pretty much says "I like Criterion films" and disregards everything else because it hasn't been released by the "wacky C" bunch. That is all I am getting at. Are you someone who only likes a company instead of films that was made before the company was even started? Criterion, Kino, Flicker Alley, Olive Films, Masters of Cinema, BFI, Milestone, Fantoma. These are (or in Fantoma's case, were) just companies who TOGETHER release films, and all of them combined still haven't released films from entire countries. They are not the films, the history of the films, and why they are the way they are.
Haha yes I do know that Criterion releases these films on home video and doesn't produce them. And no, my first sentence wasn't sarcastic.

I love the Criterion Collection. I was just saying that I almost always enjoy what they put out (maybe their tastes are similar to mine?) whereas I don't get the same kick out of Kino. That's all I was saying and I really don't think such a big deal needs to be made of it.

All four polls to be shown together.

In fact, I may just post them today. I don't anticipate many more votes judging by typical voting turn out for the polls. BTW Best/worst cover art had the most votes casted

KINO really love releasing silent films which of course if you are not a fan of that is not really interesting They also have a good release of new films but like you most of them just don't interest me and so I have not gotten them. I really enjoy what KINO is doing with silent films.

Criterion as some silent films but mostly they are find in the Eclipse collection which to my surprise in the last little while, I learn is either not very appreciated or known by a lot of people.

I'm not even sure "Mulvaney" exists. He could be a George Kaplan-like character.

Perhaps Criterion should do a video of him in the storage room to convince us all.

Now that's a video I would watch.

I should have kept all the emails I ever received from Mulvaney. I'd like to compare his writing style and see if it can be determined that he is indeed multiple people.

+1. I've blind bought dozens of titles in the Criterion Collection, this is the one that was a huge swing and miss for me. At least among those I've actually PURCHASED. I've seen more than a few on Netflix/Vudu that I ended up being shocked by how awful I found them (given other people's apparant love for many of these films). I'm usually pretty good about avoiding "mistakes" when a commit to a purchase though, at least in terms of how I feel after watching them.

For the first hour I wasn't that bothered by it and a few of the choreographed scenes were clever enough to be somewhat interesting. But that scene in the restaurant just went on forever... I actually grew to just hate this film by the end of it. I will probably give it a 2nd watch in about a year. After that if I still can't stand it I'll probably just trade/sell on ebay...

Does anyone here use Twitter?

If so, could you be so kind to tweet the poll results to Criterion? Who knows, maybe we can get a freeby for blu-ray.com out of this.

Poll results coming soon.

It's funny how I can get something from Amazon.uk to Montreal in less then 5 days and something from the USA taking two weeks plus
I wonder how worried you'll be in two weeks when they still haven't come

Well, I'm trying to stop buying movies. I think it's a problem for me. Ideally, if I can rent them, I should tell myself to rent them. I've had this problem in my head for 10 years now, "If I think I really enjoyed the movie, I should buy it." I would like to get in the habit of enjoying a movie so much that I don't have the urge to buy it. So for me, I would like to get in the habit more of renting rather than buying. And if rental stores (real stores or netflix) don't carry them, then I have no choice but to buy them!

I don't have that choice because I no longer have rental stores in my area *AT ALL*. All the blockbusters, and hollywood video locations are long gone. Not that they would be likely to have much in the way of Criterion or Kino anyway.

I do have Netflix, but they are only a small sampling, and my connection isn't quite superfast anyway (I just get med. quality on a SD stream). I have also checked out a few on VuDu and that's not a bad option either (think it's $3 rental there, they do have much more than Netflix in the way of Criterion, but still probably not even 25% of their catalog). In many ways buying is not only my best option, but it's my ONLY option. I do try to control what I buy alot more than when I was amassing way too many DVD's though.
