Thats not what I said. I accused you of not understanding how Film works (with regards to the quality of film compared to Blu-ray).

And I quote YOU -

"I have Alien set on both the R1 and R2. I was unsure about how, being older films, this could really improve on BR."

Of course they could be improved on BR. 35mm Film has a much higher resolution than any home media format, including Blu-ray. It's simple maths that dictates that a BR iteration of a movie would outperform the DVD, providing the restoration and transfer were done properly of course.

Again, please stop putting words in to my mouth.

I love this set. It's the best quality I've seen this films in and it's just breath taking. I have the OTT on DVD and have never watched it. I grew up with the special edition. I don't care how many changes Lucas wants to make to them. I have the OTT, the Special Edition, the 04 editions and now the Blu-Ray. Its very easy for people to get what version they want. Except if you want the OTT in Blu Ray. You're kidding yourself if you ever think that will get another release on any format.

The top and bottom of it basically is, those of us that were there from the start would love to see the films untouched so that we can enjoy them using today's technology. Instead we see those films pulled apart and demolished with each release. It feel's like one great big insult.

If it ain't broke... Don't fix it!!!!

Next release will probably go down as the 'Anyone born after 1985's Definative Edition'. And basically, they're welcome to it.

F*ck you George, f*ck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you talking about where I said I would like a choice and expected better?

Or was it how I turned down the opportunity to purchase a Jurassic Park Tin / Big set with model or the Back to the Future Tin - Because, as you accuse, its all about the packaging for me ?

I am on a Blu Ray movie discussion site, I have my own opinion - it is not the same as yours, doesn't mean I'm wrong.

I'm based in the UK. Were here are allowed to have opinions.

I have read many reviews on movies which were made before Hi Def. Films I enjoy and bought on DVD, long before BLu Ray. Films from the 70's, 80's early 90's

Some have reviews by people who have bought and owned both, where the transfer is no real improvement. Robocop, Predator, Escape from New York, Terminator...etc

Sorry profit, is not a good idea to come onto a site like this and ask a question like that ??

Personallythe first star wars films i saw where the special editions and i prefer these to the orginal, how can you not like them, everything has been updated to tell a full story with all 6 episodes.

people need to stop whinging about the set, you know what lucas is like so why would you expect anything different

seems a few peoples dreams where crushed when this was released

I personally would only get the OT, and that on the cheap.
It's not only the moronic changes made, but the point is - this is Star Wars! this was supposed to be the 'crown jewel' of blu-rays! let's face it, they did a half-assed job on it, doing it from an old master (7 or 8 years old). No matter how much it's sugarcoated with AQ and 4,000 hours of special features, 60% of which are commentaries + 180 minutes devoted to spoofs and the 501st stormtroopers - something that could have been done in 60 minutes, tops.

It could've been a truly great BD set. Unfortunately, it isn't.

I'm not over fussed by the touch ups. My only issue was, as I had said, I do not think this release is the great Star Wars release it should/could have been.

I do not like the artwork. From what I have seen, considering the money behind the movie, I have seen better PQ for movies around that era, which had less budget and even less money to chuck at it to re-release on Blu.

I have the Gold HMV 4 DVD set, this Blu Ray set does not include all the extras included on the 4th DVD. I have the limited edition releases of the OT, which included the orignal versions. This is also not an option on this Blu Ray set.

So for £68 (on release) I do not think it is good enough. It looks, compared to all the previous artwork, the lamest. And there was no option to purchase a Special Edition. People can cry on about me wanting a tin. It is not the case so much, I just wanted something that befits such an awesome set of films. If it could be done for Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Rambo etc... Why not Star Wars ?

Turned it down at £35 from Best Buy Popped in the basket went to check out, then updated and removed. Bought JP set for £18 instead.

It'll get cheaper.

Remembering the DVD history, I'll wait for another release of this, in the near future. Luca$ won't be able to just leave it. I'm sure a much better overal package will come out.

I'm sure it will. Or you can wait a good few more years for a 4k home viewing format to become available.

I still have the unchanged trilogy on dvd and i also have the complete saga on blu ray. Lucas has gone too far with changes the unaltered trilogy will never make it to blu ray becouse its lucus's first draft. The Special edditions are the ones that he likes.

Star wars 3D ? no Thank you Lucas

Me neither.

I might - might bite on the OT, and that only if it's around £10-15 or so.
