United Kingdom DHL Global Mail Orders

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

Can any say as to there experience with ordering from Amazon.com. I orderd a whole bunch during black friday. Everything from all the other suppliers has arrived (UPS, DHL Express) but with DHL Global nothing..all the information that's registerd is that they have received the packing from Amazon.

I've received one package from them with DHL Global and I think that was ordered on the 17th November, that took 11 days to arrive. My other package ordered on the 26th is In Transit Des Plaines IL. Which looks like a nice place.

If 11 days is a good guide to have deliveries I should get my package tomorrow.

Almost the same here. Orders shipped few days after the initial orders have been delivered.

I ordered a vinyl record from amazon.com in October (it was a pre-order at the time). It shipped via Expedited on the 15th Nov and estimated delivery was 24th Nov. The 24th arrived and nothing, I gave it until the 28th when I contacted amazon.com to ask if they can possibly track my item (the tracking page was a joke, no updates since the 16th!). They apologised, refunded my postage costs (very fair of them) and said that they simply can't do anything until the 15th Dec. All I could do now is sit tight and hope it would arrive.

Finally it arrived on the 1st Dec, 16 days later. The worst part? It cleared customs on the 19th Nov and was in the UK for 12 days before they bothered to deliver it.

During this time, I received my order of Evil Dead II blu-ray from amazon, using their free delivery within 6 days of order! I also ordered Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction on the 25th Nov and they arrived the same day as my vinyl which shipped 10 days earlier!

DHL Global = Shockingly bad service. Avoid at all costs.

But I believe that Amazon assigns the carrier. So it's difficult to avoid them.

I think you should expect 10-12 working days.

DHL has had a lot of changes here in the UK lately which has caused them to slow down quite a bit with some contracts. I think it's safe to say 'global' is a fair bit down the speedy delivery list.

DHL may pass it to a third party too to complete the delivery. Yodel (who seem to be the new name for DHL/HDNL) can deliver upto 2100 too. So listen out for the door and a guy driving a 1997 Volvo estate in his late 50s with tats head to toe.

That's who I get

This one guy single handedly delivers to all the UK. A tat for every new A or B road he manages to drive on. He shall be christened 'Dangerous Dave'.

I had this exact same problem. They sent the movie out, showed up on tracking as the parcel had been picked up then nothing. Im still waiting for it - 3 months later. Meanwhile they refunded the postage, then the movie, then sent out a new movie with a different carrier - i got it 8 days later.
I was 62 dollars richer but one movie lighter.

I'm pretty lucky then, I got my Beauty and the Beast Criterion delivered in 5 days with DHL Global, though I got the same useless 'tracking' that just told me it had left the depot

Well they've got the 'Our Lady of Guadalupe Religious Celebration' in Des Plaines in a few days so I imagine all our packages will be on one big float heading out of town....

Update: my tracking tab has disappeared on Amazon.com whether this is a good thing I don't know. Hopefully my Blu is not floating in the Atlantic....

Hmm. Is this tracking only for US customers? And when it leaves the country you can only hope the plane doesn't crash on the Atlantic? Last activity seems to have been on December 9th. So am I supposed to believe there has been no progress in 6-7 days?

It's kind of the same with me, it says "Shipment received by carrier - December 1, 2011 6:22:58 AM," so I hope they're enjoying it! I want an exact GPS location with real time tracking by NASA!

Heh. It's probably just that they don't offer international tracking for their parcels. At least that's what it says on the order confirmation I received from Amazon. Hopefully my order arrives just in time for Christmas.

Received my package this morning, I'm a bit gutted as it's The Exorcist Digibook and most of the corners are squashed. Not sure if it's worth asking for a replacement as it's from the US and would cost a lot to send back.

Should I send Amazon.com a message?

Amazon usually refunds you the full amount you paid + shipping and you can keep the product. Though I'm not sure if they'll do that in your case as it's just a minor issue.

All the damage looks like it was done before it was posted, my I Am Legend UCE was 100% mint and that's more than twice the size (plus it's a lot heavier as well).

If it was Amazon.co.uk I'd ask for a replacement.

I preorders Rocketeer and Meet Me In St Louis using expedited shipping, Amazon dispatched on 12th December, it left the USA on 15th December, arrived in the UK on 16th, cleared customs on the 16th and is down to go out for delivery in the morning. You get tracking on all but the lowest international option, or should do anyway. DHL are not great but UPS cost a lot more (disney store USA use them, they are very fast but painfully expensive).

Sorry to bump such an old topic but Blowitoutahere have decided to start using DHL Global Mail for international orders, I have been waiting since the 14th of December on my package. This is the most time I have ever waited on a package to arrive, it normally only takes less than two weeks from America in my experience. Ridiculous.
