Default Warner extends HD-DVD support 3 weeks

"Burbank (CA) - Warner Home Video announced this week that it will continue to release titles on HD DVD for three weeks longer than it originally anticipated.

Earlier this month, Warner said that it is going to stop supporting HD DVD in May. However, it has now decided to push that deadline back a few weeks to be able to release more of its upcoming titles on both formats.

Despite Warner’s Blu-ray exclusivity announcement, over a dozen Warner titles are still slated for release on HD DVD over the next four months. The extension of HD DVD support confirms that Twister and Bonnie & Clyde will come out on both formats instead of being Blu-ray exclusives.

Some other notable Warner titles that will still be released on both formats include Justice League: The New Frontier, I Am Legend, and August Rush."

This article is not written very well. Twister was set to release the first week of May, now since WB said they are releasing dud titles 3 weeks later it pushes twister back to the end of may. Whoever wrote this article needs to get his information straight.

just about anyone on this site already knows WB support of the dud ends june 1.

wooo stop it, it's old news. It's just because the reported the release date of twister by 3 weeks to release the blu version first. So take this as a good news, not a bad news.

The media's has a way to spin information...

What difference is it going to make when they push it for three more weeks? HD DUD is still finished and nothing left to prove so there's no point in pulling a panic attack about it. And remember, don't believe everything the media says because 90% of it is bullsh*t and 10% facts.

Old news, indeed. Warner is blu blooded now. As of June 1st, no more HD-DVD titles for the red side.

I don’t mind at all, they can make it 3 more months as long as we get Batman and the Matrix with PCM sound and a really high bitrate video I.E. they use all the 50gb

When you say Batman, are you talking about Begins, or the original? The first is good, but Begins kicks it's ass.

Old news, and spin from HD-DVD fud-meisters. Nothing has changed. HD-DVD still loses WB support...

From Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits:

"By the way, we looked into that TG Daily story from yesterday about Warner extending their HD-DVD support three weeks. It's actually not an extension, it's really just a clarification. It simply reflects the fact that Warner is delaying their catalog HD-DVD releases three weeks after the DVD and Blu-ray release as well as new release titles. So whatever the last major DVD and Blu-ray title announcement is before the end of May, the HD-DVD version will come out in early June and will be the studio's last release on the format."

THERE IS NO EXTENSION. Warner is slated to end HD DVD support beginning in June 1, 2008. The new Twister release date is May 27, 2008. Last time I checked, May 27 of 2008 comes before June 1 of 2008.

People seriously need to brush up on their reading comprehension skills.

Indeed it has. Perhaps it's time to lock the thread? No point in giving this non-news any more life for the FUD-sters?
