I have a slightly off topic question. If the HD DVD spec was complete 2 years ago, why should there be 4 gens of players by the only manufacturer in 1.5 years?

That is an exceptional question. I wonder what type of answer we'll get for it

My guess is there will be no 4th gen players.

At any rate there shouldn't be.

There's really not much point in speculating as I am sure we'll find out what it all means with in the next week.

As for that post of the day at AVS. I think most people should just leave AVS alone... but... IT'S REGARDLESS!!! Not irregardless... if it was "irregardless" to HD DVD, that would mean it would be in direct regard to HD DVD. Besides that, irregardless isn't even a real word. It'd be like me saying "I don't do not support Blu-Ray." So really, I don't think we should be listening to someone who says something like that as I am pretty sure, he wont be able to predict the future.
Well, irirregardless.....

Because “complete specs” translated from Toshiba PR to plain English really mean “we hit the wall”

He is a real piece of work isn't he? I cannot stand that guy. In my house there is nothing M$. All computers are apple computers. There is a ps3 and wii and NEVER will there be a 360. Anything that M$ backs I will never own.

I went to my local circuit city and they didn't have anything marked for clearance, and sadly the HD-DUD section was larger than the blu-ray section.

The resident helpers couldn't really answer much for me. Bunch of 15 year olds talking out of their ass. When you ask the difference between Blu-Ray and HD-DUD and your answer starts with, "Well they're both high-definition..." you know it's time to walk away.

Went to CC this evening. No "Clearance" signs in sight. HD-DVD and Blu-ray movie title sections same as always (both are same size).

Much ado about nothing here.

It's already been established that CC stores across the country are marking them as clearance items, and that a lot of stores have not marked them yet, but if you ask them to do a price scan on it, they come up at the clearance price.

There may or may not be too much ado about the implications of this, but it seems to be a fact that these players have been put on clearance nationwide.

My CC actually seems pretty even with their ratios, very surprisingly... but I'm very excited to see that they are clearing stuff out. The dominoes keep falling!

I work for CC and anyone else who does can search class code: 260 and only two players come up. One is OOP, or Out Of Plano and will be no longer carried by CC. This does not mean the player is not in production just that corp decided not to carry that model. The one that is OOP is the one for $149.99. So not all stores will replace the tag because the price stays the same but yes its clearance.
