Default There Will Be Blood

I just saw this movie last night, and I can easily say it's one of the best films I've seen in the last 10 years. If I'm not mistaken, I believe this film was distributed by Paramount Vantage and/or Miramax. I know Paramount is still affiliated with HD-DVD, but I wasn't sure about Miramax. Does this film have any chance of becoming blu?

Do yourself a favor and go see TWBB if you have the opportunity. The movie itself is a bit long, and slow building, but Daniel Day Lewis delivers an incredible performance. Great film.

Looks like, according to IMDB, Paramount has all media rights in the US.

My girlfriend's sister is in that movie. She plays his mom in flashbacks or something like that. My girl won't stop talking about it. Maybe I should take her hey?

Yes Paul Thomas Anderson directed it. He is such an underrated director. Its his 5th film- Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, and There Will Be Blood.

Five wonderfully great films!

Damn, I'm hearing so many good things about this flick! I know it is expanding in release, anyone know when it will be a wide release?

I will have to wait until this hits DVD (Or Blu-Ray) to watch it.

I have a question though. How would you guys rate this compared to No Country For Old Men.

It seems like these 2 movies are #1 and #2 on most critics lists, and I saw No Country and thought it was amazing.

No Country for old men is definitely my favorite film of the last 5 years...TWBB is also excellent, but it's a little bit slower paced. It's a brilliant movie though, and I definitely give it my highest recommendation. I think it only has a limited release though, which is unfortunate

'There Will Be Blood'...are you guys sure that isn't the name of a documentary on this year's CES?

Kidding aside, this is a great film. They should just hand Daniel Day-Lewis his Best Actor Oscar right now.

"I'm finished." Hearing those two words in my mind still gives me chills.

EDIT: D'oh! MattX beat me to the punch on the CES joke. Sorry 'bout that, Matt!

Default There Will Be Blood

I saw this flick last weekend and was quite disappointed. DDL did a great job, but that wasn't enough to keep me engaged in the storyline, which left me rather bored through the majority of the film. I see it is getting great reviews and has high ratings on imdb. Anyone else feel the same as I do or was there something in my popcorn?

Both excellent films, I think "No Country for Old Men" is the best film of the year. Love the Choen(or is it Coen) bros, their movies are usually superb; "Fargo", "Blood Simple": etc.

Its Coen BTW lol. I liked NCFOM but TWBB was better in my opinion, and this is coming from someone who didn't care for Punch Drunk Love. I think the adoption from the book to screen on No Country was excellent but the lack of a score kinda annoyed me seeing as it could have be done very well, but thats me. Either way it will be interesting to see who wins the most awards.

I am definitely seeing this one next weekend. It got pushed aside by Rambo, but since EVERYONE thinks it's so great, I've added it to my must see list. Daniel Day-Lewis has always been an excellent actor in every movie he has been in.

Guys, There Will Be Blood is far and away the best film of the year (IMO)! Everything about it was PERFECT. I didn't have one single complaint. I saw it last weekend and I really really think I'm going to check it out again one day this week. Just amazing. Daniel Day Lewis could win an Oscar on facial expressions alone! He doesn't have to say a word to know what his character is thinking/feeling. He is such an underrated actor. GREAT story, GREAT cinematography, GREAT score, GREAT acting, and just a GREAT GREAT film. I can't reccomend it enough!

P.S. most of you out there will be blow away by the music in this film!

I'm with you on this. There Will Be Blood kept me riveted in my seat throughout, and it's one of the best movies that I've ever seen. I don't offer such praise often, but Daniel Day Lewis made this film shine and leave a lasting impression upon me. I suppose since I loved Citizen Kane, as this had some of those elements involved, that I was going to enjoy this film.

There's really not enough superlatives that I can heap upon this movie, it's simply wonderful and people out there should go out and see it for themselves. The cinematography in this one is gorgeous as well, and is really breathtaking in spots.

In my eyes, Daniel Day Lewis delivered a performance for the ages. If he doesn't win the Oscar on this one, then I'd consider it a travesty.
